Either way is fine. Do what's best for the work. So much dialog about what the BEST thing is. There is no such thing.

Accepted to Carnegie Mellon via email.
-
Make a pros and cons list. Debt does suck but I wouldn't choose a program JUST because they pay more.
-
Anybody interview with Carnegie Mellon and hear back?
-
Got the financial packet just now
-
Man oh man. I wish this financial aid stuff would come out.
-
Accepted to Hunter
-
Last couple posts are getting kinda salty. Don't be mean dude.
-
Funding info came later via the online portal you're asking about Columbia right?
-
Did you have an interview?
-
I was told the faculty is meeting this week
-
Congrats. I haven't made any decisions yet.
-
Accepted for painting!
-
Accepted to Yale.
-
They should update your application status the same way you were notified of an interview.
-
Yale interview went great. Still have to interview with Hunter. I'm going to make a pros and cons list if it comes down to multiple schools.
-
Hey guys interviewed with Yale March 3 and Columbia March 4. Rejected from UCLA. Accepted at Columbia. Just got the call tonight.

I'm no expert. I've talked about this a lot with my mentors. And I've attended and left a graduate program because my needs weren't being met. Ultimately it doesn't matter where you go to school. the work matters. The school matters in the sense that you want to be around people that match your energy and intellectual hunger. Your peers matter. The community matters. Sexy schools can give a little bump and a lot of rigorous and invested students and faculty can end up there, but there are some less sexy programs that are just as good. For me graduate school is a means to find comrades and mentors. It is a space to work hard and take risks. It's expensive. There isn't one right answer to this. It depends on what a person wants. Go to with your gut or go with the sexiest school. You will be fine either way.

Rejections have typically been sent out via email early-mid March in the past. People who are finalists have been notified much sooner. Like I said I could be wrong.
-
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they've called finalists by now.
-
Same. It'll come.
-
It went well I think. It was a fun talk. Super interesting program.

I interviewed with Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday. Was contacted via email the previous Thursday.
-
I edited my previous post in case you missed it. "Assume nothing until the final word" unfortunately the final word generally comes way later.

I have interviews scheduled with both Hunter and Columbia for painting. I believe all interview invites have gone out but assume nothing until you hear the final word.
