  1. Has anyone tried contacting the financial aid office for funding reconsideration? I can't get to a rep on the phone for some reason (keeps hanging up on me) and email turnover is slow right now.
  2. Also, there are quite a number of international students in San Diego and everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming.
  3. hey marwanslm, I'm pretty much in the same situation, debating between Elliott & IR/PS. A huge factor for me is that Elliott gave me $0 and IR/PS gave me a full ride plus stipend. I have only heard great things about both programs, but if all things were equal I would have to say the DC locale for Elliott is a big draw. But the funding has really tipped everything for me and now I'm leaning heavily toward IR/PS. I did my undergrad at UCSD and know it's an amazing school. However, I'm still going to the Elliott Admit Day to see if I can be swayed! I think if you're sincerely interested in a PhD, UCSD is the way to go. The poli sci department is top notch and consistently ranked among the best.I was a poli sci major and had some really great courses and professors.
  4. Well, just heard back from GW Elliott and $0 funding unfortunately. Still considering it for the program and development concentration, brand name in IR, and the DC locale. But worth it over CIR or IRPS?
  5. Would love to know how GW is with funding as well. Is anyone weighing between GW Elliott and AU SIS? Would love to hear thoughts.
  6. Thanks WaterYouDoing! Has anyone gotten a fin aid package from SIS? Hope everyone who's still waiting hears soon!
  7. Hi everyone, Having heard back from all the schools I applied to, I am deciding between: 1. University of Chicago Committee on International Relations - MA in International Relations (1/3 tuition) 2. UCSD IR/PS - Masters in Pacific Int'l Affairs (full tuition) 3. George Washing Elliott School - MA in International Studies (waiting for funding info) Also got into AU SIS. My understanding is that Elliott and SIS are quite close in comparison. Any outstanding differences I should know of? Would love to get some input on the pros/cons for each and which you would choose. Any feedback from alumni greatly appreciated as well! I have not fully decided whether or not I want to head into an academic or policy career, but am leaning toward the latter and would love to do development work abroad in the future. TIA!
  8. I got accepted, but no news on funding yet. My decision letter does date "March/April 2014" so I wonder if that means they'll hold off a batch of decisions until Apr? That is pretty late though.
  9. Hi everyone, New to the forums here and have been accepted to these schools (still waiting to hear from GW Elliott & SIPA though chances are low for the latter): 1. Denver Korbel School - MA in International Studies (no funding) 2. Chicago Committee on International Relations - MA in International Relations (1/3 tuition) 3. American School International Service - MA in IDEV (waiting for funding info) 4. UCSD IR/PS - Masters in Pacific Int'l Affairs (waiting for funding info) Would love to get some input on the pros/cons for each and which you would choose. Any feedback from alumni greatly appreciated as well! I have pretty much ruled out UCSD - not sure I will have a regional focus in the pacific arena, have lived in SD before and just want a change/new city, and the program isn't as highly ranked from what I've gathered. I do love the school and city though so have not ruled it out completely. I have not fully decided whether or not I want to head into an academic or policy career, but am leaning toward the latter and would love to do development work abroad in the future. TIA!
