  1. kbui, I hope the third time is a charm for you.
  2. Thanks, overworked TA. I know that this opens up other opportunities, but getting the Fulbright was my favorite opportunity.
  3. Well, I got the dreaded NS email. So I won't be going to Mexico with a Fulbright this year. I'm really heartbroken, but determined to try again. I'm curious to hear from anyone else who tried at least twice before getting accepted. When I was recommended, I felt so confident that my application was strong, and although my interview wasn't great, it didn't feel terrible. I also want to thank everyone in this forum for being so supportive. Knowing that I wasn't alone, and that some of you were going through the same thing was comforting to me during the wait, and especially when the email finally came. I feel like just applying, getting recommended, and even rejected, I've been in good company all along the way. And to those who were accepted today—I wish you the best of luck and a marvelous time in the coming year.
  4. Congratulations to those who were accepted today! Condolences to those who weren't—I hope you will remember to be kind yourselves over the weekend. Yeloquehay, as many have already pointed out, the fact that you were recommended at all paired with your ability to take this in stride and move forward with a good attitude makes your success in other endeavors seem inevitable. It may be too soon to ask, but do you think you will apply again? Nuerovivor, japaniia, and kp_jabalí, it's a such a welcome vicarious pleasure to hear your exciting news!
  5. kagt, I applied to Mexico too—thank you so much for emailing Comexus! After checking, rechecking, and then rechecking again the notification dates from previous years I was starting to hope we'd find out this week. Somehow it's just reassuring to know the wait will be longer, but not too much longer.
  6. Neurona, congratulations on your wonderful news! Olioliwoo, congratulations to you as well on being designated as an alternate!
  7. Hi arch_in_half, I also applied to Mexico City, but my field is neither eco or water-related, although your project sounds fascinating to me—and perfect for Mexico City. My proposed project is on transnational women writers in post-revolutionary Mexico. My interview was about a month ago as well. It looks like the last week in March is when most applicants for research grants in Mexico have received notification in the past. I bet we'll know by this time next week, and until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  8. I've read that applying at-large doesn't inherently hurt your chances, but if you apply at-large you don't have the benefit of advice, proofreading, and whatever other help those who apply through their university can access. Now I'm curious about your long application story!
  9. As an at-large artist applicant recommended for a research grant in Mexico, I'm curious to hear from anyone else out there who applied at large, as an artist, or to Mexico. Someone mentioned Mexico many pages ago, but seems to have disappeared since then. It looks like we can begin expecting notifications for Mexico to go out in a little more than a week. I want this so badly, but I don't think I seemed as brilliant and charming as I'd hoped in my interview, so I'm looking forward to the notification with the same combination of anticipation and dread that many have already expressed.
