  1. Does anybody have any insight about the pros and cons of Western and Toronto? I am doing my own research but other opinions would help too!

I'm considering this too. Do you know the class size of Western? I know UofT is 50!

MTLgal, looks like I'll be dropping my wait list at McGill!!! Not sure how helpful it will be, but I'm certain of choosing schools in Ontario. It doesn't look like they have a large waitlist, best of luck you get in!

  2. Aweee I say drink some ASAP and relax . I wish we could change the words they use from "accepted and rejects " to something leas horrifying....

Like .... Innies and outies ... Or something less bellybottonic

    "accepted" and "almost-accepted-hopefully-next-year" ? hahaha.

  3. I hope so too! That must've been so hard and stressful to finally settle to the idea of moving, actually moving and then dropping everything to come back at the last minute! McGill is definitely my first choice. Being a Quebec resident, the lowest cost of tuition is a big factor for me. And I also did my undergrad there, so it definitely feels like home for me. Although I'm open to expericiencing student life in a new city, I really am a Montreal girl at heart.

    That's great news CaraL, congrats!!

I can imagine =) Pulling for both of us!!! I've only visited Montreal (or QC really) when I was really young and I don't remember much from it except for being overwhelmed with the big city. I can't wait to go and tour the campus. I planned a visit last September without thinking of applying but now that this came up hopefully they'll let us know before May! Would be nice to go knowing I may be living there in September!!  B)

This morning I got an email acceptance from Dalhousie! My first acceptance and this is my second round applying. I'm so incredibly happy. Still waiting to hear from Alberta, Western, and Toronto but I am just thankful to have gotten in somewhere!

Congrats to everyone else who has gotten acceptances this week!!!

Congratulations! It must be such a huge relief especially as a second time applicant!!! =) what do you think you did the second time around to boost your application?

From last year's thread, it seems like they email acceptances and waitlists/rejections come by mail.

Does that mean that on Apr. 1st, if we don't get anything by email then it's a sure rejection, just expect a formal one in the mail?? :(

  4. I actually just spoke to one of my volunteer supervisors, and she said that a past volunteer from many years ago was waitlisted at McGill but got into U of A. She didn't hear from McGill for the longest time and had actually moved to Alberta and was ready to start there, when McGill finally contacted her. So she dropped everything and moved back here! So, to quote Arwen, there is still hope!!!

thank you!!! Goodness, I'm really rooting for us! Hope they don't string us out until August, just the thought of that makes me shudder   :( Is McGill your first choice?  :)

  5. I hope you get accepted to your first choice, cause that would mean there's a chance for speechykeen and me for McGill!!! :D

This is hilarious!!!!! I was just thinking the exact same thing and was going to quote or tag you (whatever the term is on this thing) !!! =)

  6. Well as I wrote that ..... The wait ended ..... Well one wait ... Now I start another wait .... So anyone reading this that got into ubc that isn't sure ....here are some Vancouver Facts for you to help you decide:

It rains 80% of the year.

The average cost of living exceeds the average income .

Rent close to campus is the highest rent in Canada. A one bedroom is $1300-1800 average.

Our hockey team loses but if you say you don't like hockey you won't have any friends....

The transit system is terrible so if you move far to get to lower rent .... You will have a 60 minute one way commute..

We have been voted the meanest people in Canada ( least friendly)

Vancouver is home of lulu lemon .... If you don't do yoga you might as well be a werewolf . People will run from you screaming.

We don't have very much in the way of entertainment ... We all call ourselves " the no fun city" because we are still being grounded for our little " riot" we had .....

Soooo why would you want to come to Vancouver? Obvious choice : say no to your offer :)

HAHAHAHA, this goes for for any MONTREAL people too. You know what they say about those Quebecers....

No but seriously though, if anyone gets scholarships and/or at 50/50 with McGill and another offer, please know someone here who is on the waitlist and practically dying to go and may not get in to other choices (mostly because ORPAS sucks).

Thank you. Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

  7. Hi everyone!

I just discovered this forum tonight and have spent the better part of this evening reading everything from last year's and this year's thread. There's been so many posts with useful information and great insight into everyone's application process that I thought I'd chime in as well.

First off, congrats to all those who got accepted! Last year, I applied to McGill only and was refused. Looking back now, I never would've had a chance, what with my average GPA, limited research and volunteer experience in unrelated areas.

This cycle around, I boosted my application and applied to McGill, UofT, UWO, uOttawa and Dalhousie, and was invited to the multiple mini interviews in Ottawa this past Tuesday! It was definitely a nerve-wracking experience, but I've learned a lot from it. That afternoon when I got home, I found out I got waitlisted for McGill! So it looks like we're in the same boat, speechykeen! Still waiting on answers from the rest of Ontario and Dal.

Best of luck to all those still waiting for answers!!

Congrats to all with accepatances already!!!! and yes MtlGal it looks like we're in the same boat! Have you contacted them at all? I got nothing except there's no rankings and they rereview applications after a certain date. I wonder if there's a lot on the waitlist. How does uOttawa work with applications? Do they just interview in French? I was going to apply this year but backed out last minute because I can only converse in French.. not professionally. Maybe next year when I improve my vocabulary. But who knows ...I feel like life is a hug limbo right now!

  8. nicolafloo, esselpy,

don't worry, im sure they'll give waitlists out in waves as well! virtual hugs and fingers crossed thorughout!!

we'll get through this, come april 1st, and later I'm sure us keen slp forum posters will get in :)

thanks for all the support, this group would make phenomenal speech pathologists!

  9. Hi all,

I've been lurking this page since the beginning of this month, I applied to Western, U of T and McGill.

My friend got her email on Sunday for an acceptance for McGill and I was devastated that I didn't get it! However, this morning I got an email that I was put on the waitlist. Did anyone else get this too? I called them and asked if I can get the ranking but they said they re review everyone's applicaton after April 8th.

Anyway, congrats to those who got accepted already but if there's any reasonable doubt about McGill, please know there's someone here who's dying to go.. it's been my dream school forever hahaha!!! Best of luck to everyone!!!! April 1st can't come any sooner
