  1. @MACoolJ: I got an additional form email from the admissions director explaining what the waitlist was (as if it really needed explaining...) and that they'd keep me posted on the process. But otherwise, no info. We'll see what happens, but even if I got pulled from the waitlist, I doubt I'd go. A waitlist acceptance would pretty much equal no money, which would make going there kind of impractical.
  2. Same. The IDEV director sent me a nice email selling the program, which is nice, but I need more information before I start looking at committing
  3. Anyone hear anything about funding yet? Trying to come to a final decision and it seems GW is taking a while!
  4. Finally heard back. Waitlisted. Kinda a bummer, but at least I can start trying to decide between SAIS and Elliott. Best of luck to everyone else!
  5. @goodcat. Yeah, Euro funding is pretty much non-existent. There are some fellowships you can apply to, but they're pretty competitive. But it's kind of balanced out by them being essentially half as expensive. On the subject of Georgetown though, I hear they're usually pretty good with aid (loads better than SAIS, for example..). I have a friend going there now and he got a pretty good deal.
  6. @goodcat, I'm in the same conundrum as you. SAIS is a great school, but I'm not sure any program is worth that much debt, especially when I got into less expensive programs. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted, I'm still here hitting refresh..
  7. I second Gov2School. I'm only a year and a half out of undergrad at the moment, but I have such a clearer idea of what I want to do. I did apply right out from undergrad, and got accepted to a bunch of places, and later backed out to go work for a year in NYC, and then DC. It really opens up possibilities and it makes you a more viable candidate because you have a clear idea of what you want to do, and the experience to back it up. In my opinion, that all translates very well in statements of purpose and in your resume. Most, if not all, grad schools tend to look very favorably upon professional experience. It's definitely possible to get in straight from undergrad, but it's also much harder. All of the info sessions and opportunities I had to speak with students all reinforced that SAIS values professional experience, and I don't think I would have gotten in without it. I didn't even bother applying to it straight from undergrad. I do think it would be good to get work first, if possible. But at the end of the day, you're the only one who knows what would be a good fit for you.
  8. @ruella76. I second pyrhuss, that's a great deal from SAIS. They didn't give me anything, which is why I'm torn between GW and SAIS. SAIS is not an inexpensive school.
  9. Nothing on my portal yet, either. Is the longer wait to hear back at all indicative of a rejection? I'd imagine these things are just on a rolling basis, but the wait is killing me!
