(A) to Croatia for Full grant. I'm trying to adopt the mindset that I really got NS so that I can move on with my life. However, it's going to be in the back of my mind that I'm still in limbo. For those of you whose A turned to a P, how long was the wait between hearing each decision?

Another day is here.

So to give myself something to do, I decided to peruse the 2014-2015 orientation manual and thought MozartGirl might be interested to see this quote about receiving other funding. "Please note that the grant does not provide more than a minimal allowance for books and research. If you have a project that requires extensive research materials or equipment, you should obtain funding from other sources for this purpose." @mozartgirl, I'm sure you've seen this by now, but I thought it good to share again

So it's 5:57am Central... could today be the day? Or will I spend all day obsessing for no reason?

Hm. I've already emailed the embassy contact for my country and she told me to speak to the Fulbright program manager. Would you take this as a sign that paperwork has been taken care of?

My emotions are on such a roller coaster right now... I can't concentrate on anything else!

In my discipline (studio art) complimentary funding is encouraged, if not expected. There is a small fund available (roughly $20,000) through my college that is available for students to apply to for a variety of reasons. I applied this last month to the fund and maxed out the possible funding at $2,500 for supplies for my project, art supplies and money for things like a voice recorder. I was told by my professor that I was virtually guaranteed the funding due to the Fulbright nomination because it's so prestigious and rare in my department. Now, I say all of this in regards to smaller grant opportunities. I suspect that applying to larger opportunities might be different if the proposal didn't clearly outline specific needs to be met by multiple grants of over $20,000. If you were to apply for a Fulbright after already receiving a 30 or $50,000 grant, I have a difficult time seeing them award a Fulbright as well, mostly because I have the sensation that Fulbright wants to help candidates get to where they want to go who wouldn't be able to get there otherwise. Of course, this is just my theory at this point.

Well, just tried to call him and he's left for today, but the person I spoke with said he gets into the office around 8:30am EST. Maybe tomorrow is the day...

So it's currently 5:50am Central Time... could today be the day?

Also, those waiting for Ukraine, have you seen this tweet from the Fulbright account?
-
So who's still waiting? I know there are a few places left on the spreadsheet, but since some people aren't filling in Accepted/Rejected when the other applicants to the country do, I'm not sure how reliable the spreadsheet is at this point. In an effort to think about ANYTHING else while still waiting (and in an effort to procrastinate from working on this Philosophy project), I need to some new music to listen to... what've you got? I'm currently listening to The Apache Relay.

I like the way you think.

Sending good vibes to all of the officials this week... It'd be great to get final notification the week of my birthday. Even if it's NS I could move on with my life as I'm finishing up an MFA and am trying to figure out what my hubs and I will do next (Fulbright, look for local jobs, look for national jobs). When there's this much transition happening, it's kind of fun to realize that I don't even know where I'll be four months from now... And by fun I mean this much indecision triggers my anxiety and obsessive habits of angry cleaning...
-
Me too! I can't wait for this to finally be real, one way or the other.

Ugh. This is so frustrating. I'm applying for the Full Research to Croatia. I emailed Sasa the other day and she told me the email Eileen. This does not sound promising. What are you applying for? ETA or Full Research?

So many gif emotions... Level Annoyed: Level Anxious: Level Bored: Level Cleaning (or Angry Cleaning): Level Braff: Level Beaker: I think I'm at Level Cleaning.

Anytime someone goes into the document and rearranges the info according to whichever column they choose, then all other columns appear out of alphabetical order. I know we're all stressed, but deleting everyone else's info seems a little extreme. Any time someone uses all-caps I just think "Why are you yelling at me?" http://replygif.net/i/370.gif
