I definitely think tutoring English is good to have on an ETA application. I got selected as a Germany ETA and although there are lots of other factors (funding as the biggest one, of course), I feel like my experiences tutoring German and English made a big difference on my application.

The Germany Fulbrighters have a Facebook group, if you'd like to join us. SPECIFIC TO GERMAN ETAs, the rule is "only 14 days ouside of Europe," rather than outside Germany.

I did. I didn't spend a ton of money, but bought them each something personal.

It's all still there at this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AsJrSSHnssqFdHNPell4VVZwWDgtWUpQcTVVeWM0bWc&f=true&noheader=true&gid=1 Maybe that was a different spreadsheet?

I'm pretty sure I read on the USTA FAQ page that they're separate programs, so it's possible to apply for both. I don't know if they'd give it to you, but it's possible to apply. (https://www.usta-austria.at/site/programdescription/faq)

No problem! Here it is: https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1423420674575161

I created a Facebook group called "Fulbright Germany 2014-2015 (ETAs and Full Grants)", if any of the other Germany recipients want to join. And by the way, CONGRATULATIONS!

Oh my god! Is this a joke?! Germany ETA. Subject: Fulbright U.S. Student Program Notification
-
That would be the exact face I would make...if it ever arrives. In related news, last night I had the following conversation. Me: "What if they reject me?" SO: "Well-" Me: "What if they just NEVER TELL ME?!" SO: ... Me: "That would be so much worse." I think this says something about my current mental state.

It looks like Germany ETA results usually go out between a few days and a few weeks after the research results. That won't stop me from frantically checking my email, but we probably won't hear today.
-
Hey -- a little confused. The Notification Dates (not 2014-2015, but all years) spreadsheet has been updated, but now a lot of the 13-14 dates seem off. I'm positive the Germany ETA didn't send notifications May 16 last year, for example. Does anyone know what's going on?

DON'T TELL ME THIS!
-
It's 5pm on the East Coast. Time for me to rest my email-refresh finger for another day.
-
Oh, that really is the worst.
-
I've heard this before, but could not find information about it on the Fulbright sites. Is there somewhere that lists the guidelines for extending an ETA position in Germany?
-
Maybe they sent rejections first? There are still quite a few not updated.

Two months since recommendations went out. One way or another, we are all impressive for holding on.

Does she have any thoughts about final results? ;P

I don't want to seem like a super spammer, since I've been a lurker 'til now, but a friend pointed me to Duolingo today and I'm having a great time. It's a fun (free!) language learning/strengthening program. They don't have every language, but there's Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese, so if anyone wants to brush up their skills, it might be worth checking out. Also, you can compare your progress with others, so if anyone wants to watch me suck at Spanish (I'm applying for the Germany ETA.), I have the same username there. Thanks for the laughs and the commiseration these last months. Here's to the long haul!
