Queen's program is 16 months, with months 9-12 (Summer semester) being the practicum.

Don't know why I didn't think of doing it this way before.. here's the link to the Queen's MPH '15 group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/325560894264447/

Agh! I just made the group Open instead of Closed, so hopefully that will help. I also had Master's instead of just "Master" so maybe that was the issue. I've changed it to 'Master' now to make it easier for people to search. Try again and if it doesn't work just pm me on here and I'll add you in!

Update: I have made the Queen's MPH '15 group public, so you should be able to search for it and join without a queensu email

Hi 1212, I tried to make the group public at first but you need to add friends right away in order to do so. I'll message you (on here) and we can become friends and then I'll create a public group and add you in. Then it should come up in searches for everyone else too.

Hi everyone, After some deliberation I've decided to accept my offer to Queen's for this fall! On that note, I created a Facebook group called "Queen's University Master's of Public Health '15" for people to join so we can introduce ourselves. Since the group was created within the Queen's University network, you need a @queensu.ca e-mail to join. I did my undergrad at Queen's so I've got one, but I'm not sure if other applicants have theirs yet. Anyhow, congrats to everyone and if you're headed for Queen's, come say hi!

Has anyone received a rejection letter from Guelph yet? I havent heard anything from them about rejection/admission/wait-list, so I'm assuming I got rejected but am just waiting to hear.
-
Depends on the school. If the school asks for a deposit, then you would lose it if you declined. If not, I don't see what other penalty there could be. I'm sure that kind of thing happens all the time, given how long it takes everyone to get their acceptances out.

I sent an e-mail to the MPH Assistant at Guelph asking if it was possible to know if I am waitlisted for the program, and the response was: "If you are going to be offered admission, you will receive email notification by the end of the day today." Not sure if this makes things more or less stressful for people, but if you're waiting on Guelph, there's still hope I guess!

I'm really hoping for Guelph, hopefully they'll send some more out tomorrow. *fingers crossed*
-
Congrats, IAmMPH!! Did you hear by post or e-mail?
-
Has anyone heard from/spoken to Guelph?
-
Hopefully this means there's hope for those of us still in limbo!
-
Did you e-mail the graduate assistant, Gerri? She's been pretty good with getting back to me so far. Even if she couldnt tell me much she replied pretty quickly.
-
Still, being told you're waitlisted is different than being told your application is still under review.. I wonder what exactly the difference is. If they're rejecting me I wish they'd just say so, so that I can move on, haha.

Thanks figuringitout. I also heard back from Queen's on Monday and was told that my application is stiiiilll under review. Not sure what this means since someone else posted here a few pages back that they were waitlisted.. by the sounds of it, they must just be doing rolling admissions. I'll try to muster up some more patience in the mean time.

Hi fig, My application still says "Application Complete", and on SOLUS (Queen's admin system, I'm an alumna) it says 'University decision: pending'. I e-mailed the graduate assistant on Monday asking about the status of my application and she said it was still under review. Since finding out about the first round of admissions, I've asked again if I'm on the waitlist but haven't got a reply yet. I'll make sure to post when I do! Hope that helps

I've been following this forum for a while so I figured I might as well join in . I received an offer of admission from SFU last Monday for the Env & Occupational Health stream, as well as a rejection from McGill. Still waiting on Queen's and Guelph. Apparently my application is still under review at Queen's, which makes me nervous as there seems to be a wave of admission that went out yesterday. Hopefully I'll hear soon as I have to get back to SFU by next Monday! Good luck to everyone still waiting on offers and making tough choices!
