The question: which will open up more opportunities for me in the future--going to a university with a good reputation, or getting an excellent scholarship at a lesser-known university? I was accepted to cognitive science masters programs at University of Amsterdam and University of Edinburgh. I'm 90% sure that I'll choose Amsterdam because I got a full ride + $1500 paid living expenses per month for one year (with possibility to renew for 2nd year). I just have a shadow of a doubt because Edinburgh has a much wider reputation. Am I right to choose the school that's giving me an amazing scholarship? Any scholarships I get for Edinburgh won't be nearly as comprehensive, but I may still get SOME funding there... (there's also the issue of masters programs at Edinburgh being just one-year programs, and some skepticism in the international community about how much those one-year UK programs are worth...)
