  1. Thank you all for your sound advice. The most I can do at this point is to rush my transcripts to both schools and I will contact them tomorrow. I feel a bit foolish over such an oversight, especially with the time I spent on each application. Thanks again for the helpful comments and suggestions.
  2. Are any members here applying to Johns Hopkins and/or Harvard? After submitting my applications yesterday, I noticed that the general graduate school webpages mention that applicants must upload a copy of their transcripts and also send in a copy of their transcripts. Perhaps because other schools do not require this, I am just now noticing it and a bit worried as the deadlines have now passed. Should I contact the Graduate Schools tomorrow? If I rush mail transcripts to these schools, despite coming in late, do you think that they will still be accepted? Johns Hopkins mentions that official transcripts must be recieved prior to the application deadline. I wonder if there is any possibility of them accepting transcripts a few days late? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
  3. Is anyone still waiting to hear back from UPenn? I applied for their terminal M.A. program and was told that they would be looking at M.A, applicants "in a few days" nearly a month ago. Now UPenn is on Spring Break--is there any hope that further decisions will be sent out this week?
  4. For the sake of maintaining a comprehensive list, I was accepted into Yale's terminal M.A. program a little over a week ago. I posted my acceptance in the "chit chat" thread, but it receives a lot of activity and was likely buried pretty quickly. Looking at the list of admitted students into history programs, I am very elated for everyone!
  5. Well, I’m pretty ecstatic right now; I was just offered admission to Yale’s M.A. program. I was told that M.A. decisions are made after Ph.D. decisions, not at Yale specifically, but at least at UPenn. I would not lose hope, though. Also, I did not have an interview if that means anything yet was still accepted—perhaps interviews are reserved for Ph.D. students but I am not sure.
  6. In regards to decisions that are coming out, are they strictly M.A./Ph.D. and Ph.D. acceptances? I ask because I applied to Yale and UPenn’s terminal M.A. programs in history. Do schools evaluate and accept or deny students for the terminal M.A. programs at the same time as the combined M.A./Ph.D. programs or do they do them afterwards? I realize that this question is likely school-specific, but any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
  7. Thanks for the responses, everyone. It's refreshing to hear responses from individuals who have been in similar situations.
  8. First, I'd like to say that I've found this forum to be a great resource. As a prospective graduate student, I've learned a good deal about the process through the posts here. Currently, I'm only a sophomore in college (rising junior). My freshman year was spent at a state school where I maintained a 4.0 for the entire year (3 quarters). Subsequently, I transfered to Washington University in St. Louis and finished my first semester with a 3.7, hopefully I will be able to improve this semester. Anyways, transferring isn't atotally unique situation, but I haven't gotten any helpful guidence on how this will be viewed by graduate schools. Also, how will they calculate my GPA? Will they simply combine the new and the old or will they look at them both separately? I realize this probably depends on the school, but possibly someone here has some experience from a similar situation. Also, from what I've read/seen, a GPA of a 3.7+ seems to be the minimum needed for the top schools. Is this true? I realize that GRE scores, research, and recommendations also play a large factor. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
