I was admitted via phone to the MA program with funding on February 14. I am deciding between Colorado State and Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My decision will likely not affect your funding offer, but I'm crossing my fingers for you - good luck!

So I am seriously considering attending Colorado State for graduate school. Does anyone have any specific housing apartment complexes they know of that they would recommend to a graduate student? I'm looking for 1 bedroom or studio, furnished, good parking, 400-850 rent, as close to the campus as possible without being 'on campus'. It's a lot to ask, but I'm unsure of which place would be best for a guy that has never been to Colorado.

One of my good friends applied to Cornell last year in COMM and was admitted with no interview in late February. He said he thought it was about the 25th or so of the month. Hope this helps! Anxiety is getting to me to; it's such a waiting game.

Has anyone heard back? I saw one acceptance to the PhD program (via e-mail) and two rejections to the master's program on the results page (via website). My status still shows 'In Review'.

Anyone heard of any other programs? Or programs that maybe favor qualitative methods?

I am planning to apply to Communication or Sociology PhD programs. Anyone have suggestions for schools that have strong programs relating to computer-mediated communication, online social media (Facebook, etc), virtual worlds, etc?
I've heard that Carnegie Mellon is especially strong, but I don't think I will meet their admissions criteria. Any other suggestions?

Hey everyone,
I just found this resource. So far it has been extremely helpful!
I am graduating next year from Ohio State (one year early) with a dual degree in Sociology (Honors Research Distinction) and Strategic Communication with a minor in professional writing. My GPA will more than likely be a 3.7 or 3.8. I have some research experience already and I am doing more this year (hopefully getting published). I also have some pretty strong faculty contacts so letters of recommendation are looking good.
This summer I am doing a research fellowship and getting paid to complete my senior honors thesis. I will also be studying a lot (probably taking a prep course) for the GRE and taking it at the end of the summer (September/August).
I am looking for programs that first and foremost, fully fund their graduate students. I care very little about perceived prestige, but I know that the stronger programs are more likely to provide full funding. My research interests are sociology of culture (youth culture and aging specifically), online social media, qualitative methods, death and dying, and social psychology.
Any advice as to applicable programs?

Thank you to everyone for your commentary on this forum this past admit season -- I found it to be so helpful.
Next year I'll be at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I've contacted all of the other institutions I was admitted to decline respective offers (South Florida, Ohio State, Colorado State, Boise State).
Best of luck to everyone still waiting. My fingers are crossed for all of you and a congratulations goes out to everyone who has already made a final decision!
