Don't you guys think that by extending the deadline for 2 more months, Columbia shows how desperate it is this year to get students? I was between Stanford and Columbia but after seeing this extension, I feel less confident about Columbia's OR Program. They're almost on the verge of combining the deadline for Spring & Fall admission.

@testarossa - You will get into Columbia for sure. I'm trying to decide between the two schools as well. Actually, I was just looking at the curriculum at Stanford right before I saw your post. There really isn't much of a difference between the two programs. They're both top-notch. The biggest criterion for me is the job placement ratio. However, the stats are very skewed and misleading considering the on-going financial crisis. I just got off the phone with a friend who finished Stanford MS&E undergrad in 09' and she told me that it took her 6 months to get a job after graduation. That really petrifies me.

I'm not sure if it helped or not Quite frankly, I wasn't expecting to get accepted because of the low GRE Verbal score. I assume my professors wrote good recc letters for me.
