  1. Thank you so much guys for your input. This is truly a great community! Best, Josh Yu
  2. Thanks so much Chamomile Tea! You went above and beyond in answering my questions! I read through the links you sent me and I've gained some valuable advice. Though I do have to bother you with one more question: Do you perhaps know of any good websites that are good for market tracking in the fields of work you mentioned? Best, Undergrad2016 P.S. Sorry if I came off as a troll! I didn't really know that people on this forum don't like career/academic advice questions. I'll refrain from posting these kinds of questions in the future. Oh, and the guy in your first link seems to have a weird way of dealing with his problems xD
  3. I just realized that this might be the wrong part of the forums to post this question in. I've posted the same thing in the poli sci section of the forums. Mods, please feel free to delete this thread. Thanks
  4. Hello everyone! I am a sophomore at New York University, and I have a keen interest in political theory. I've been doing well in all of the political theory courses I've taken thus far, and I've been thoroughly enjoying reading old texts and analyzing contemporary issues through the lens of political thinkers (particularly Medieval thinkers). I originally intended to go for a PhD in political theory, and become a professor, but after talking to some of my professors I've learned that the job market for political theorists is absolutely dreadful. Now I don't really care about what kinds of degrees I get, and I most certainly couldn't give two s**** about "prestige." My IDEAL career would be one which I can analyze contemporary issues with political theories and make a difference in the world by applying these theories in the real world. So, with that, I have a couple questions for you guys! 1. Given that my ideal career is very...idealistic, and probably not too based in reality, what kind of a career path would be the closest thing to my ideal career path? Or does such a career path not exist? 2. A few of my professors recommended that I get a JD or MPA/P and work in law or public policy. Would these graduate programs/career paths be a good choice for a person with my interests? Please excuse me if I sound a bit naive. I'm starting to really worry about where I'm going with my life. It feels like just yesterday that I was making new friends at freshman orientation. Anyways, thanks a lot you guys. I really appreciate any advice you guys might have for me! Best, Undergrad2016
