Just got into UT Austin but no $$$ haha.

Okay, by credentials, you mean transcripts and stuff? And nope it's not my native language, it's actually my third. I use it more than I use english at this point though because the majority of my closest friends are brazilian. The book everyone seems to use is ponto de encontro. Not the most interesting book, but it gets the job done. Easiest way to learn Portuguese is to talk to someone that speaks it's natively. That's how I leaneed, then I went back and officially studied it.

Portuguese is my main focus. If anyone has questions, lemme know lived in brazil for some time and I go back frequently. If a department recommends you for admission, does that mean you're in? Like is the approval of the grad school just a formality if you definitely meet all of the university's minimum requirements?

Just got accepted to UCLA

Were any of you interviewed before being rejected or did you receive any other contact from the department? I'm sorry, guys. It's still early in the game and im confident that we will all end up where we are meant to be! Thanks for updating!

I don't really have a top choice. I only applied to 5 schools, but they are places where I know that I will be happy. Kind of regretting that decision right now and feeling like I should have applied to more to increase my chances, but not much I can do now.

Nope.. Waitlisted at one and one interview, but I'm feeling like this week will bring more news? How about you?

Well congrats for getting that far in the process! It's great that they got back to you so early... Last year, it seems like they didn't contact people until the 14th!

How did you find out?

I've had one interview and other than that, I'm still in the silence phase too. Nothing after the interview either! But since I applied for linguistics, im not sure if it's going to be a slightly different time frame?

It's finally February... May the odds be ever in our favor. Did my first interview early last week, I think it went well? I guess all that is left it do is keep playing the waiting game for a few more weeks!

PhD at Texas because they don't have a Master's program. I applied for a masters everywhere else though I never got that into Sherlock. Merlin and New Girl got me through my winter break! I also learned to crochet to kill time. I work at my university so these four weeks were brutal because I have been so anxious about grad school results. I'm so happy they're starting to come out now.

Well I just spent 4 weeks watching netflix... Hahahah. I got quite hooked on the show Merlin, but unfortubatley they're taking away BBC shows. Have you seen The Butler? I enjoyed that quite a bit. I applied to linguistics at Texas as well, but no interview notice as of yet. Que será, será
