  1. Same here. I'm kinda trying to prepare myself for getting a rejection letter. It's extremely excruciating because even at this moment of writing this, I know I still have that little hope of getting accepted.
  2. @GeoDUDE!, ChuckCL Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I'll just wait a little more. It's just that I want this horrible waiting game to end so badly since I've been binge watching Netflix and sleeping 10+ hrs to avoid checking my emails 100 times a day! I think you wouldn't have to worry about your materials getting lost. If that actually happened, I'm sure the school would've contacted you for missing documents. That's how it was for me when my official transcripts were lost. They emailed me asking if I have sent my transcripts. Of course, I told them I did but would definitely resend it if they haven't got it. I feel like it would be okay to email and ask in your case since you have some other opportunities that you might miss out if you don't decide by the end of March. Let's just hope we all hear from the schools soon!
  3. I also got an email for my PhD application from Columbia, Teachers College. Not sure about Journalism though!
  4. Hey guys, So I've been waiting for a decision I had an interview with a little over two weeks ago. The POI told me I'll be getting my final decision in 1-2 weeks, and I am getting more and more impatient (It's been 2 weeks and 3 days to be exact!). I also saw on the results page that some people got an acceptance email in mid Feb. I am assuming it was a day or two after their interview if they were interviewed on the same day as me (it was a Skype interview). But I am not sure if it's a good idea to email the admissions committee asking if they have reached any kind of decision. Would I be bothering them? If I am not, I'd want to be as polite as possible. I am not really used to writing emails like this, so how should I write an email? My other question is, how many Ph. D. applicants are accepted each year? I know this varies by schools and programs, but any general ideas? If two are already accepted and I'm not one of them, should I just assume that this is one of those "soft rejections" as a previous thread mentioned? Just the thought of getting rejected discourages me Please help me with emailing the admissions committee! Thanks!
  5. So is it possible that your online application status says "decision pending" but you're unofficially rejected and never hear back from schools you applied to?
  6. It definitely helped, thanks! I guess all I can do is to wait and not go crazy... Yeah, it's killing me too! My interview also seemed to go well. But now I'm at a point where I keep thinking how I could've done better in the interview, and I'm not so sure if I really did ok... It's been a little over a week since I had my interview, but it feels like it was months go ..also, just wondering, what do you guys think of getting no replies from the POIs after sending a thank you email? I probably should've written a better thank you email, but mine was very simple. I didn't personalize it or mention what I particularly enjoyed during the interview. Can this possibly be seen as a sign of rejection?
  7. Thanks for letting me know! Well, my POIs didn't really tell me if I am going to be admitted or not. They just told me I'm one of their top candidates, and that was it :/ They said I'll be getting the final decision in 1-2 weeks so I've been checking my emails 100 times everyday. I am hoping my interview was impressive enough for them to accept me! And congrats!!!!! You got in! Ok, so I still have some hope! Thanks! Good luck!! Hope you get in!
  8. Hi guys, I just wanted to know how long it usually takes to hear back from a school you had an interview with. I heard that if the interview was successful and you're accepted, you hear back within a couple days. Should I be prepared to be rejected if I don't hear back from a school even after a week? I'm really worried :/
  9. Hey guys, this is my first post after months of lurking! So I wanted to know if any of you guys know what the possibility of getting rejected would be after an interview. I had a Skype interview yesterday with two of my POIs, and I honestly don't know how I did. I don't think I completely screwed up, but then again, I also know that I didn't impress them. When they asked me why I picked that school, what I wanna do with a Ph.D, and what my research interests are, I was able to give them some good answers for the first two questions. But when they asked me how I would like to take their research further, I could only tell them that my research interests are in line with theirs. I think they were expecting a more specific answer from me. Right before the interview ended, they told me that they wanted to talk to me because I'm one of their top candidates (but they also told me this in the beginning so I'm not sure if they told me this just to be courteous) and I'll be hearing from them in a week or two. I've been thinking about the interview over and over again, and I feel like my answers sounded too stupid and too desperate to get in... I did send them a thank you email a couple hours after the interview but didn't get any replies. Can this be seen as a sign of rejection? Or am I thinking too much? I'm just going crazy. Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.
