  1. Previous Schools (Name, type, or tier): Research University Previous Degrees and GPAs: B.A., Economics and Romance Languages with a minor in Arabic GRE Scores (Verbal/Quantitative/Analytical Writing): 166/160/5.0 Previous Work Experience (Years, Type): 4, project/vendor management in translation industry Math/Econ Background: Econ major - but not math heavy. Foreign Language Background (if applicable to your program): Spanish/French - full academic proficiency, Arabic - intermediate, Hebrew and German, elementary Intended Field of Study in Grad School: Int'l Econ, Conflict Management, Arabic Long Term Professional Goals: Promoting investment in post-conflict states Schools Applied to & Results: Accepted: SAIS, SIPA, SIS, IHEID, PSIA Rejected: WWS, Yale Jackson Waitlisted: SFS Ultimate Decision & Why: My ultimate decision is SAIS - while I'm heavily indebted from undergrad, I have one shot to pick the best school I could get into. While SIPA gave me more money, SAIS' integrated language approach as well as the 'double major' of econ and something else drew me. Plus I am so ready to leave New York. Advice for Future Applicants: Do not overestimate what kind of funding you expect. Base your plans off of getting nothing, and then be pleasantly surprised if something comes through. Also, do research before applying on what the programs are like from current students, rather than marketing materials. I would have saved myself the money on some schools. Most importantly, go somewhere where you'll be happy with your decision!
  2. Hey RS - I'm almost certainly going to PSIA in the fall, simply because I can't afford SIPA, SAIS, and SIS which accepted me. From my research, I feel like PSIA has gotten a lot better since it started a few years ago and offers a flexibility I didn't find elsewhere. Also, you have to look at the overall Sciences Po brand, which goes an extremely long way in France, and in Europe overall. My own challenge will be bringing that degree back to New York or Washington; if you want to start a career in France I think Sciences Po is the way to go. Hope that helps, Rob
  3. Hey Filmore22, I see in your footer that you already know your SAIS aid package - when did you receive that? Thanks in advance!
  4. Accepted to the MA at Bologna, which is great - but financial aid will be key - glued to my email today! __________________________________ Accepted: SAIS, SIS, SIPA, PSIA Rejected: Yale Jackson, WWS Waiting: SFS
  5. Hey all, I called. If you don't have explicit mention of funding in your admit letter you don't have any from the school. Looks like this one is out for me.
  6. My letter says "Detailed information on your FAFSA federal aid application status or instructions on how to submit a FAFSA application will be coming to you shortly." anyone know if that means a definitive no on funding?
  7. Anyone know if "shortly after" for funding means same day, or next week? __________________________________ Accepted: Sciences Po PSIA, Columbia SIPA Rejected: Princeton WWS, Yale Jackson Waiting: Georgetown SFS, Johns Hopkins SAIS, American SIS, Geneva IHEID
  8. Rejected too. Glad to have closure - congrats to all those who were accepted.
  9. Hey guys - I don't think someone at Jackson would necessarily know exactly when they are released. The admissions committee at Jackson passes their recommended admits to the general graduate admissions board, and then they process it and then release. This is mostly wishful thinking as I am living inside my gmail essentially - but it could be that the general committee has the information and it's just waiting for them to get through the backlog of other departments. (Now back to going insane with the wait). ________________ Accepted: Sciences Po PSIA, Columbia SIPA Waiting: IHEID, Yale Jackson, Johns Hopkins SAIS, American SIS, Princeton WWS
  10. Yep, today's a lost cause. Here's to tomorrow being a bit more eventful.
  11. H iguys, so it's 3:30...think decisions will still come out in the next few hours? I saw they handled American studies and something else earlier in the day. CANNOT HANDLE THIS WAIT ANYMORE.
