Ankghost0912 replied to TARDIS's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Hey guys, My GRE score is such that neither can be happy nor be sad. It's 323(163 q, 160 v,4.5 AWA ). I dunno but through this my UCB is clearly gone and I'm very doubtful for other colleges like GaTech , Stanford etc. I am an undergraduate student from India too. -
GRE - a very important part of the application?
Ankghost0912 replied to bsharpe269's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
I got a GRE of 323 (160V,163Q 4.0 AWA). How do you guys think that would affect my application at univs like Stanford, UCB etc given that I have excellent acads 3 projects and excellent Letter of Recommendations -
Hi, I hope I don't get banned from here for posting too much. I hope you understand what one goes through when applying so please bear with me. Alright, this time I come with my profile and give you my list of colleges. Kindly tell which is ambitious and which is safe. Acads: 9.0/10.0 CGPA(6th in university). IIT Delhi Research Internship. 3 projects (on robotics, cryptography and computer architecture). Publications: one in International Journal of VLSI and Embedded System Design. The research at IIT Delhi is their IP so can't comment on where it was published. Extra Curriculars: Quizzing, Cleared Regional Mathematical Olympiad in high school. GRE- 323 (160 V,163 Q, 4.0 AWA) And here's my list: UIUC UCSD(Univ of Cali, San Diego) Georgia Tech Stanford UC Berkeley Penn State NCSU(North Carolina State Univ) Univ of Wisconsin Madison

Hey guys, As the title suggests I wanted to ask if anyone could guide me on this? I'm applying to their Electrical and Computer Science program. Apart from this I've got research experience from IIT Delhi,4 projects successfully completed, 5th ongoing. My recommenders are professors from IIT Delhi and senior scientist ISRO. I understand that this is probably a rhetorical question but any insight would be taken very appreciatively. Thanks

TOEFL/IELTS Scores and Decisions
Ankghost0912 replied to ambitiousfolk's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
Oh,no no . TOEFL is just a measure of how well can you 'fit in' the English speaking world if your native language is not English. It doesn't end up being a detrimental to your application. Want more info? Google: Demystifying the American Graduate Process(DAGAP) -
Requesting reviews for SOP

Hi edulix, here's the link:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6ngyOe8T5xsdzNJMjJRdlN6dm8/edit?usp=sharing however, i implore you please do not send it to anyone else Thanks -
misinussam, Your profile is good apart from the CGPA part. I got the exact same scores ,but if you are thinking that GRE scores alone would get you an admission you are mistaken. You did not mention the place where you did your research internship from and the projects you did. Extra Curricular activities may or may not help your cause. You see graduate admissions are different from undergraduate ones. I think in your SOP do mention about your low CGPA and the reason behind it and all should go well

Hey goldenone, I did not suffer from dyscalculia per se,but I had this persistent fear and revulsion from mathematics, due to which I wasn't able to learn mathematics quickly. However, it changed over time. You can overcome this condition only by practice. Do as much maths as you can,try to love the subject. Sure, the other's will be ahead of you at first, but eventually you'll be able to do better.

Thanks Macchiato, As you said I downloaded all the previous admission statistics and ran a custom program(written by me) on it to predict the probability of my getting in. However the result (of the program) was ambiguous. The point is - will my being from a lesser known university hurt my chance? -
Hi all, I'm a student from India(ITM University, Gurgaon). I have a GPA of 9.0/10.0 and a GRE score of 323(160-V,163-Q,4.0-AWA). I have done research in systems designing, embedded systems and cryptography. I just completed my internship at IIT Delhi where I developed a crypto-related product. In addition, I have made a PC controlled wireless robot, interfaced VGA with FPGAs etc and am currently developing a single chip microprocessor architecture. I want to ask all of you that given my profile, what do you think of my chances of getting into the top four of my list i.e. UC Berkeley, UIUC, Georgia Tech and Stanford(A little ambitious). Any help would be appreciated , but please don't give ambiguous answers. Thanks Ankit
