  1. Petronius, do you know if that offer for Brown was for program in Classics? And might you know when that admittance was sent out? There has been no info about Brown's Graduate program in Classics on the search results this year, though another forum user has said that Brown has already done their prospectives visit.
  2. I'm sorry for him/her too. But I'm also kind of jealous. At least he/she heard back. It looks like I'm not getting into Brown either, but no one has told me anything so far. It looks like Schools send out the rejection notices as the last thing they do in the admissions process. It's not a good feeling being left in the dark. Though I guess there is a sliver lining, I know that I'll likely not get in, so I can brace myself when the notice eventually comes (hopefully soon.) Also, I didn't know Brown has a Master's program in Classics.
  3. Thanks for the information, anonumous. May I ask, were you one of the people invited, or do you know someone who was invited? Also, might you know if Brown did interviews for their candidates earlier this year?
  4. I just want to hear from Brown's Graduate Program in Classics. We haven't had any information from their Classics department, save for that one piece of information from ScipioAfricanus about his friend who received an offer for their Ancient History program through the Classics department. But nothing about their Graduate program in Classics.......
  5. Thanks birchleaf! Hope you all are doing well.
  6. I do have one question though. Sometimes on the results page, they post that they were notified of the results "via Website." Do you guys know what website they are talking about? Is it the same website where we submitted our applications?
  7. Ugh, the lack of news is really getting to me. I feel like Classics programs are moving really quickly this year, but also moving really stealthily too! We really didn't get any info on interview offers from the search page, but we did get some from the forums. That way, we could anticipate whether we would get a rejection letter or not. Personally, I would rather see the rejection letter coming beforehand, so that I can prepare myself But at this rate, I guess I will just have to wait and see whatever letter comes.......
  8. It's been pretty quiet these past few days. Has anyone heard any news from programs, or from someone they know that might have information about Programs?
  9. By the way Birchleaf, did Cornell interview you before sending the acceptance letter? I thought that Programs usually interviewed prospective candidates before sending out admissions offers, but it looks like some Programs are sending out offers without interviewing them. I haven't gotten any interview offers from Brown by this point. So I was wondering if I should give up, or if they could make admission decisions without interviewing candidates.
  10. Disclaimer! That is all just my conjecture of course. If anyone out there has any alternate theories, I 'd be glad to hear them! After all, as academics we should always welcome peer-reviews.
  11. As anonumous pointed out, Harvard has already conducted their interviews and told him that decisions will come out at the end of the month. I expect to receive my rejection letter either by email or postal service, or both, by the first or second week of March. Sending out the rejection notices are the last thing they do, as part of the application process. I actually applied to Harvard in a previous year, I remember receiving the rejection letter by postal service some time in early March. I believe Yale and UPenn will follow the pattern I mentioned above. I haven't heard anything from Brown's Classics department. Scipio told us that he knew someone who got an offer for their ancient history program, who applied through the Classics department. I don't know what that means for the applicants to the Classics graduate Program. Anyone here have any leads or inklings on Brown's Classics graduate program for this application year?
  12. Thank you everyone! I'll give it a shot. Hope you are all doing well.
  13. I do, but I am not sure if I should email him. I don't want to look presumptuous or overeager or anything like that. I also don't want to breach protocol, if that can be taken as a breach of protocol or something. Has anyone else in the History applicants emailed their POI ahead of time? If I do send that email, what should I say? How do I word my question?
  14. Oh, ok then. Thanks so much for your help!
  15. Hello Everybody! Hope you don't mind me dropping in. I'm an applicant to the Classics PHD program at Brown. I saw that there was a couple of people who had heard back from Brown's history department. Has anybody here heard anything from their Joint program in Ancient History? I know that the Classics department and the History department at Brown work on that program together. And there hasn't been any news at all from the Classics Department, neither in the Forums or the search results page. So I was wondering if anyone her has applied to the ancient history program, or has heard anything from the ancient history program? Since there has been no information from the Classics department, I was wondering if there were any applicants that might have heard anything from the ancient history program at Brown. I figure that this was the closest I could get to hearing some news about the Classics department, since these two departments work on the ancient history program together.
