  1. Cornell is currently calling people on their waitlist - they must have at least one spot still open for those that are waiting to hear from them!
  2. After much internal struggling, I decided to pass on a full ride from UNC Chapel Hill and head to VCU (first in line for funding behind three others who all ended up committing there... which sucks for me). I’m wondering now where are the best places to look for funding? Current plan is to just take out loans (luckily VCU is a relatively inexpensive program for in-state students), but obviously I’d prefer to not have any debt after I graduate. Does anyone here know a good resource for finding grants/scholarships/anything?
  3. Called UC Santa Barbara today and was told I was not being offered admission at this time (what I was expecting), official emails should be out by the end of this week for anyone else on here waiting to hear from them!
  4. Thanks for the response! I saw that another photo person had an interview (and I did not) so I’ve been expecting a rejection anyway. The waiting is just the worst part haha.
  5. Which department/medium did you apply for? They’re still the only school I’ve heard nothing from.
  6. Any other accepted VCU Photo/Film people on here?
  7. Hahaha, I work at Starbucks right now as a shift supervisor and after coming back from visiting VCU I was super close to just quitting my job on the spot because I felt so stir crazy. Wishing August would come faster!!
  8. Got a voicemail from Cornell that I'm "at the very top of their waitlist."
  9. I checked my application page again and it said at the top that they typically notify students of their decisions around the end of March. I’ve heard nothing at all from them so far.
  10. Funny story I emailed UGA to find out where I am on the waiting list and got a response from the School of Art Graduate Office saying I was 2nd in line as well. Then I got a second email from Stephen Scheer saying "On behalf of the Photography program, I can answer your email to say that we don't have a definitive order for our wait list applicants at this time.” So, not really sure what they’re doing over there haha.
  11. All the faculty are very actively engaged with their own work as well as that of their students. I really enjoyed speaking with all the ones I got a chance to meet, as well as many of the first year grad students (only a few 2nd years made it to the dinner event they held for all the prospective students). I see you have already been accepted - I’m sure you will absolutely love it when you visit. Their facilities are practically brand new and quite centrally located (plus with a great view of the lagoon). Thank you, I’ll just shoot them an email to ask! I realize now that I read their email first thing in the morning and must have just scanned the rest of it after seeing “waitlisted” haha.
  12. Just visited/interviewed at UC Santa Barbara yesterday... Probably no other campus as beautiful as theirs! Has anyone heard anything from University of Washington? They are the only school I've heard nothing from thus far.
  13. How did you find out what spot you got on the waitlist? I was also waitlisted there so I'm wondering where I'm currently falling on that list.
  14. I got an email yesterday from the director of the photo/film department so I believe each department is sending out their own interview requests. It’s happening in 27 minutes on Skype! My feelings so far are mainly anxiety and excitement haha. For my 2 previous interviews I used that list posted elsewhere in this forum with all the common interview questions, wrote out all my answers, and practiced going over them so I wouldn’t get all tongue-tied. Skype interviews are the worst in my opinion because you can’t get a vibe from the room without physically being there, plus technical issues sometimes come up. I had one with UGA a few weeks ago and literally 4 minutes into the interview my image of them froze and remained frozen for the rest of the interview. Didn’t feel like I could waste time mentioning it... but then had no idea how they were really reacting to what I was saying!
  15. UNC Chapel Hill notified their top 10 who were admitted on 1/27, and I had a Skype interview with UGA a couple weeks ago. I’m also waiting to hear back from Seattle (I’m assuming you mean UW).
  16. Accepted to UNC Chapel Hill (Photo) today! Finally the dread over thinking I wouldn’t get in anywhere is over...
  17. I am applying for Fall 2015 and would be 24 at the beginning of the program. I, too, have had some concerns about being younger than other applicants and was hoping to hear from some people who have already experienced this - even if it wasn’t you being the youngest but you were in a program with younger people? I would like to assume that age doesn’t really make a difference in a grad school community but I have no idea what to expect.
