Does ASU offer fellowships, stipends and teaching opportunities? It could be a fantastic deal with in-state tuition. I do not know much about ASU, Hypoart. Is it a selective program?

Has anyone gone through this program or have any information for the low-residency photo mfa? Its a young program with some hot shot faculty and alumni. thoughts?

If you are looking for a top-tier school, according to US News Best Graduate Schools (for painting), you should apply to the following top 6 schools: 1. Yale University 2. Rhode Island School of Design 3. Art Institute of Chicago 4. Columbia University 5. Maryland Institute College of Art 6. University of California Los Angeles If your teachers think you can get into a top-school why don't you ask them which top schools he or she believes you have the best shot of being admitted to? Once you compile a list of places you want to apply to then try to visit the schools and meet current students. If you can't then I'd suggest emailing some of those students. Ideally they can give you a view of what to expect if and when you are admitted. Good luck!

i heard graduate admissions committees look at age, unfortunately. if your work is undeniably good then age isn't and shouldn't be an issue.

where did you apply? there are many programs with students practicing straight photography. mfa thesis shows point to this. schools that practice straight photography: Hartford Art School (low-res program with online components and in-person meetings in different parts of the world) Massachusetts College of Art and Design Yale School of Visual Arts Rhode Island School of Design Columbia University (studio art mfa, if you are admitted to the photography department you have focused study with thomas roma who is a "straight photographer") Arizona State University University of Santa Cruz, Los Angeles (also studio art mfa) Pratt Institute Bard College Master Class (certificate, not an MFA, can study with "straight photographers" like Stephen Shore, Larry Fink, etc)
