Hello everyone,
First off, congratulations to everyone who has heard from Laurier today! It is nice to see they are getting back to applicants before mid april!
Also, for anyone who did not see the link before but would like to join, I created a Facebook group named U OF T- FACTOR INWENTASH M.S.W (2-YEAR) CLASS OF 2017
Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1418122681835473/
Please join!

I think i just joined the other one !? so excited:D
I deleted the original one so you should be in the new one!!!
-
Ok I recreated the group for U of T 2 year 2017! Try this one https://www.facebook.com/groups/1418122681835473/
-
Ok I changed settings to open group but I am not sure how to change it from requiring utor email! Does anyone know how?
-
This is a great idea!!! However, did I miss the memo on creating our UofT emails? I think you need an email to join the group.
I don't think you would need a U of T email for Facebook would you? Did you try joining and it said that?

Hello everyone,
In the spirit of another round of acceptances to U of T (also congrats to those who got offered admission elsewhere!!!), I decided to make a Facebook group for the two year program. The name of the group is U OF T FACTOR-INWENTASH M.S.W (2 YEAR) CLASS OF 2017 and I don't know if the link will work but here it is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1604726966434705/
I made the group for the 2 year program because advanced standing students will have 2016 as a graduating year, although everyone feel free to join! Let me know if you have any issues finding it!
Thanks everyone and best wishes for everyone still waiting to hear on programs!
-
I would also like to know about the group! I sent in my acceptance of the offer yesterday
Hi goodnews,
I have no problem making a group if there is interest in it. I just don't want to make one if there is an existing. When I search facebook groups I see groups for class of 2014,15,16, but no 17 as of yet.
Also, congratulations! I will be sending mine in tomorrow morning!
-
I am just wondering if anyone has made a Facebook group for U Of T two year program or has interest in having a group? Perhaps it is a bit early, but I hope that everyone who has not yet heard gets good news this week! Good luck!!!
-
I signed and mailed it out with registered mail to make sure they got it, and I got an email from Angela a few days later with a "welcome to the program we've received your acceptance" type message. I also submitted my cheque by mail, there's no way to pay it on ROSI because it's not like a typical payment, but you can always ask. I doubt they would be okay with scanning because I feel like otherwise they would state it as it would be more convenient for everyone...they probably do what they do for a reason.
Thanks. Just hoping for an easier way, haha.

Just curious, how much is the deposit to hold the position/accept your spot?
$150.
-
A question to anyone who has accepted their offer of admission to U of T: Did you sign and mail out your form to accept the offer or is it possible to scan and email to department? Also, do you know if it is possible to pay the deposit on ROSI instead of sending out a certified cheque/money order?

@magfish
I also just heard from Lakehead Orillia. Congratulations! I will be going to U of T, but I looked into the Lakehead program in pretty good detail and it looks fantastic! A great step towards msw if that is your end goal or attaining a bsw and being able to work as a social worker!
People on here tend to speak highly of it too! Kudos to you.
Also, good luck in hearing back from other schools!
-
@purplegrey I submitted my application the morning of December 15th (yes I know, terrible).
I received an offer last Friday. I don't think it would do anything as someone else on the forum said they only started reviewing in beginning of march.
I hope everyone hears good news tomorrow! If not, I am thinking that if they truly are waiting to see how many people from last weeks offers decide to accept and we are just getting our instructions now then it might take another week before they are able to make a solid estimate.
All the best! You all have unique qualities that make you excellent candidates and/or future social workers!

My letter for 2 year U of T arrived in the mail today. It went from Toronto to Barrie and was dated March 13th. I have not yet read it but my dad opened it and I have 4 weeks (from March 13th) to respond and then until June for deposit.
Good luck to all still waiting!
-
Wishingonuoft,
Did you receive your letter today? And if so do you mind me asking how far it would be coming from Toronto?
-
It seems that everyone who was accepted on Friday had their SGS status update today!
-
So my SGS for U of T is now saying decision made. I have not recieved my letter yet but it is going to my parents in Barrie so it may come today or the next day.
Has anyone else's status changed?
-
Also, to anyone invited on ROSI for two-year please post on here ASAP if you receive a letter or SGS change! You guys are awesome, and all deserve to get where you want to be no matter which path you take to get there!
-
Hey all! Would those accepted into the U of T 2 year already mind sharing their stats/a little bit about their experience?
Hi nadiaem23,
Here is a brief summary of my stats or whatever you want to call it, haha.
-88-89% average or 3.93 over last 8-12 courses (cant remember exactly what it calculated out to be)
-2 years volunteering at a homeless/precariously housed meal program as well as doing research, annual program surveys, helping to write donor reports etc.
-1 paid summer job volunteering at homeless/precariously housed drop-in
-2 years part time working (paid) with students with disabilities on campus (mostly during mid-term and exam season)
-last 6 months volunteering as a peer grief counsellor (but not many hours as of yet-only indicated I did training program in my application)
-84 in research stats course
So my experience is probably pretty decent for U of T standards but I also applied to Laurier and I know they favour experience over grades so I wouldn't be as strong of a candidate there. Either way, I will be accepting U of T because it is most suitable to my career goals and I have friends and family there.
Hope this helps, message me if you have any more questions! Good luck to you! No news is good news as many have been saying here already and I agree with them completely!
-
U of T certainly has an M.S.W program and so does Laurier, lol. Maybe you meant to write BSW?
-
I have no idea what school you're even talking about right now - U of T does not have an MSW program, and if Laurier does I don't know much about it. And that may be true for that specific schools program, but I know for a fact there are 1 & 2 year BSW programs that are post-degree specifically, aka, they only accept people who are post bachelor's in another field, and then do an accelerated social work degree. Does that make sense? Just, again, something to look into if everything goes wrong and you do decide to go through the process again.

*wont let me delete accidental post*

Has anyone's status on SGS changed from 'under review' to accepted???
Hi good news,
Mine is still under review. Hoping to get a letter in the next few days so it can all feel more real. It looks like sometimes the SGS does not change long after even the letter arrives for some people.

First off, Happy St. Paddy's to everyone!!
I was accepted into the Advanced Standing at UofT last year (deferred to this year). I don't know how long the Invite status was up on ROSI. I didn't check until March 3 and it said Invited. I got the big package in the mail on March 6. My status on sgs didn't change to Decision Made until 2.5 weeks after that. Don't worry, if it says Invited you are 100% accepted!
Hi smpalesh,
Thank you for letting us know how long it took for your letter to arrive. My letter will be going to my parents house in Barrie, so hopefully it will not take too long from Toronto. Congratulations on U of T Advanced Standing and I hope all works out with your placements and commute!
I received my letter (dated Feb. 24th) the first week in March and from there I signed in to ROSI for the first time and it said "invited" - unfortunately I'm not sure how long it took for that change to happen. I'm new to the ROSI system so I'm just learning now! I hope that helps - I will be online today if you have any other questions - I am happy to help if I can! We are getting a blizzard tonight (look up the weather in Eastern Canada) - I hope everyone else has more favorable weather then I. Keep breathing and being kind to yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi littlelass,
Thank you as well for letting us know! I had a bit of freezing rain an hour ago in Eastern Ontario and lots of wind still going on out there. I hope that you stay safe and warm inside your home! Also, congratulations to you as well!

Hello everyone,
I also got my rejection letter from Laurier yesterday. I figured this would happen since my academics were more of my strength, and being a new grad, experience was lacking for what they are looking for. Congratulations to everyone who has heard good news recently!!!
I just wanted to remind everyone of the U of T 2 year M.S.W. facebook group. I am getting new requests everyday so it looks like many have found it, but to all who have recently been accepted, please join us!!!
