  1. I agree. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
  2. Fingers crossed everyone for tomorrow! I really hope we get good news. It would be so nice knowing that we are in somewhere before the weekend hits and we have to wait all over again. REMEMBER: Everyone post tomorrow by 6pm whether you did or did not hear anything from U of T !!!! Thanks Good luck everyone
  3. I asked Sue about waiting list placement and she said this: We are hoping to be able to rank our waitlisted candidates in min-April. If an offer of admission is forthcoming you will then be required to send an official transcript but one is not needed at this point. Sue
  4. What did she say ? what number are u on the waitlist?
  5. OMG thanks so much and thanks so much for sharing this on the thread !!! I feel so much better !!! Wow thanks!
  6. Lots of good points made here. I agree that since social work is a professional designation, one does not need to have experienced the situations they are dealing with, as long as you are qualified. I myself volunteer for the Childrens Aid Society and lots of social workers do not have children yet work in child welfare. Having said that, I do beleive that certain groups have been excluded from higher education historically such as racialized individuals for instance. For this reason, there may be structural and systemic level issues still at play, preventing them from getting a higher education. These inequities still exist and have real consequences today. I do wonder if perhaps having "equity seats" reserved to certain people rather than the most qualified is beneficial.... I have grown up as a wealthy white girl from the suburbs, yet volunteer with people in poverty in the Toronto Jane and Finch area..... I have no personal experience with the population I am working with, yet social work is a profession that links clients with resources. My ability to do that is not based on my personal life experience, but rather my professional expertise. I do not have a strong opinion on this issue but thought I would put in my two cents worth.
  7. On the phone she told me the first week of April, but I figured I might try before like this week so I guess we will see ...
  8. Yeah I agree. The vast majority of people will be accepted to multiple universities so that should open a few spots. As long as we are above 5 I think we may get in.
  9. I just got rejected too I feel for you It really sucks!
  10. I just emailed Sue Brady to find out where I rank on the waitlist ......
  11. Angela Umbrello is away from the office today so I dont think ROSI will get updated today ..
  12. Here is my opinion.... not sure if any of you agree or not but here goes (its about U of T - 2 year). So I was the one that Angela told me I could submit an updated resume/CV because they havent reviewed my file yet and are in the organizing stage. 2 days later people start getting acceptances.... My friend at a grad program at U of T explained this and I agree with her. They look through the applications one at a time, and decide if they are a yes, a no, or a maybe. If it is a for sure yes then they get accepted. Otherwise it gets put in a pile to review again later. They may accept people without having read everyones application because they do it as a "rolling admission". Since they are a pro at reading applications and knowing if they are good enough, they can accept people "as they go". What do you all think? Also I was told they often send out admissions on Fridays ... so perhaps the next round of admissions and files they reviewed since then will hear on Friday.
  13. Lets all agree that anyone who has applied to U of T (2 year) please check your Rosi on Friday and post on Friday afternoon whether you heard anything or not. That way we can try and figure this thing out as to when they are accepting people. Sound good??
  14. Just got a rejection email from Windsor for 2 year MSW.
  15. Anyone who applied to Mcgill MSW qualifying year, they said results will come by the end of this week!
  16. I seriously cannot wait this week. I really hope us 2 year- U of T - hopefuls will hear back ASAP I cannot stop thinking about it and am mentally torturing myself going back and forth as to whether I am good enough to get in ... UGGHHHHH
  17. York is very well known for their Masters of social work program. They offer amazing funding! One thing is that it is NOT a clinical program. They are more focussed on advocacy, community outreach etc. They also said they will not gaurantee a clinical placement.. Pros and Cons for every school so i guess it depends what your looking for
  18. logged back into Rosi ... nothing changed
  19. I agree. I would be very curious to know their GPA and marks .... if they wouldnt mind sharing of course.
  20. For people that got into advanced standing at U of T, I would really appreciate it if you wouldnt mind answering these questions. Thanks so much! 1) What type of funding/grants did they offer you? 2) How much is tuition for the year? 3) Did they offer you a Ta position? Thanks so much
