Well, I'm one of the people who got an NYU interview: B.A. from a small liberal arts college (good but not top ten); cumulative GPA 3.92, major (English) GPA 3.95. General GRE: 800 V / 750 Q / 5.5 AW. Subject GRE: 780. Hope that helps! Good luck to you on your decisions.
