No... admissions was hoping to get the decisions from the comp department on Wednesday, though when I spoke with them, they didn't sound entirely sure they would be able to.
-
What a day... no from Stony Brook and NYU GSAS. Here's to a better day tomorrow.
-
I spoke with Stony Brook a few weeks ago - they said by the end of this week. A new waiting list addition in the result search. I spoke with Temple Admissions today, who said they have a meeting with the composition faculty Wednesday and would hopefully glean admissions decisions from them then.

Thanks Composser... good luck to you too. Any idea about the change to email? Their website says only postal, and is pretty explicit about no other method.
-
Having some wine at home with my wife. At least I got the official yes from Iowa today and I don't think I'm dead quite yet at NYU. Cheers to my fallen brethren.

Columbia rejections are out. Mine included.
-
No from UCSD
-
Stony Brook's website says mid March, and Columbia seems to be pretty adherent to 3-15 emails. UCSD had one round of accepts, they hope to have all decisions by the end of this week or next.
-
I am assuming the three accepted by Columbia already know...
-
I can let him say, but I am pretty sure he is going to take it. My Columbia status reads "complete" and "at department," and has for about a week now.
-
It was in fact Jason. He got the email this morning. Congrats! You certainly deserve it.

Rejected - USC

Hi Sarah, I think that is good news. You should know definitively by the middle of this month, though I know some rejections went out a while ago.
-
Good luck, Jason.

Thanks, Whistler. I was really hoping to get back to Chicago as I lived there for 30 years and still have a lot of family and friends there. But it appears that schools that got 50 applications 2 years ago are now getting 80+. I applied to 9 schools for my masters a couple years ago with 1 waiting list and 1 accept, so I was a little better prepared for it this time and don't take any of this personally. Still...

Reject from University of Chicago

Hi Whistler, I also applied to USC. I had a professor who recalled getting his acceptance to USC in mid-April, though this was about 10 years ago. I have just resigned myself to being thankful the longer it takes if this pattern is still in practice.

Hi Jason!
-
My friend did take the test for Temple's Presidential funding, and it sounds as though they are offering it to him. It also looks like Eastman is interested, as is he, so Temple's funding will still probably be available.
-
I read that as "it's not that you don't have strong qualifications and demonstrate an ability to do advanced academic work, but..." Either way, I'm sorry to hear that. I am curious about contacting programs. I have always been under the impression that schools prefer applicants to let the process just happen. Is there a protocol that I am not aware of? Can I contact these places and have that work to my advantage?
-
Someone was also accepted to Cornell for Musicology, though it doesn't show up on a "music" search. Congrats!
-
He hasn't taken it yet. I'm not entirely sure when he will, but I'll keep you posted.
-
It is.
-
Thanks. I haven't heard from either Temple of Stony Brook, although a friend of mine received a call this past weekend from a professor at Temple stating they were considering him for full funding, pending the results of a test he has to take.

Official no thank you from Northwestern.
