I used an extension that allows read receipts without the recipient's knowledge. It's only been two days, so I know I may be freaking out prematurely and I can follow up at the one week mark. But, if I know a proff has read my email and not responded, does that likely mean the answer is "no"?
My earliest deadlines are mid January, so I don't think that is too late to have asked (?)
The programs to which I am applying require that recommenders not only be faculty from within the department, but also be practicing clinicians in the field. Because I am a post-bac applicant and took my prerequisites piecemeal at different schools, I basically don't really have alternative options for who I can ask. (Many of my proffs were visiting, or are not clinicians, etc). Thus, freaking out. Also the two who haven' responded don't have office hours, so I can't follow up in person unless I ambush them before one of their classes, which I think would be obnoxious and not appreciated.
Any opinions or suggestions?
