Curious to see if any genre writers are pursuing MFAs (I know you're out there) and what schools did you target? I do know the hazards of wanting to write more commercial/genre fiction in an MFA program, as I got a BFA in Writing at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute, but I've been able to find a few schools with genre-minded professors. They are:
(for genre)
U Kansas
NC State
(writing for children/YA)
New School
Hamline
There are more children/YA programs, but those are the two I landed on. Hamline has a traditional MFA program as well as a Children's MFA program, and they let their traditional students do a semester with the children bunch, which I think is excellent. Anyway, writing for children/YA is as close to genre as a program is willing to label, I believe.
Anyone else?
