  1. So stoked to see so many people getting accepted! I'm still waiting on Michigan State University. The FAQ on their website states decisions will be mailed "as they are made- no later than mid-May." I sure hope I don't have to wait until May! ;) The deadline was January 10th. On the off chance anyone here is also waiting on MSU, let me know if you hear something- and congrats again to everyone who has heard good news from their program of choice!

  2. Just heard back today! Best of luck to everyone in getting into your top choice!

"The University of Michigan School of Social Work is pleased to inform you that your application for admission to the Master of Social Work Program has been approved.

Congratulations on your admission to the MSW Program!"

Congratulations!!! U of M is an amazing school!

  3. The program I am applying for is part time and I intend to continue working full time while attending graduate school. (Until my second and third year, when I will need to do field placements two days per week.) I will be interested in reading the responses to your post, brycepj. For me, the thing I am most nervous about is that I currently do 90% of the cooking in our home, I plan the grocery lists, I do more of the cleaning, etc. I have told my husband he will need to take on a larger share if I'm accepted, and he is completely supportive, but I think the shift of dynamics will be stressful, at least at first. When I went to an informational meeting for my MSW program, the advisors stressed the importance of time management, so I will be keeping that close to my heart if accepted.

  4. daisydukes, in my unprofessional opinion, I would pay more attention to the word count than the page count. The number of pages can vary by how the document is displayed (the device it is viewed on, the font, the formatting) but the word count stays constant. That's just my two cents, though.

  5. My stats aren't exceptional. Graduated in 2009 with a BA in Women's Studies, 3.4 GPA, earned an achievement scholarship, departmental honors and a research grant. Did not take the GRE, did not need it. Worked in retail for 10 years before getting a full time job in the human services sector a little over a year ago. I only applied for Michigan State University, which has a great program but isn't as competitive as some of the big name schools, so hopefully I have a good shot! If not, there is always next year. Best of luck to my fellow applicants, I am so impressed by your stories and honored to be swimming in the applicant pool with all of you, haha. : )

  6. Hello fellow future social workers! I just submitted my application for Michigan State University's program. My undergrad degree is in Women's Studies and for the past year I have been working full time at a nonprofit day program for adults with disabilities. I hope to hear some good news soon from MSU! Wishing you all the best.
