  1. Toasytoast, would you mind PMing me where you accepted and if you were one of the students that attended recruitment weekend?
  2. University of Oklahoma has a waitlist of 4 people, according to one of their current students. I know of 3 people who have accepted offers to OU (myself included), and I'm not sure of the status of the other 8 applicants. As far as ruling out OU, were you invited to interview with them via Skype in mid-February? I believe they contacted everyone who was accepted and put on the short list, so if you haven't been contacted by them at this point then you may have been rejected. To give you some more info on the online app status, I accepted my offer and my online app still says waiting for departmental decision, so it may just be they don't update the online app until they know exactly who is coming to the university.
  3. Is anyone else going to University of Oklahoma's visitation weekend?
  4. I received an acceptance this morning. For those who also received acceptances, are you planning to attend visitation weekend?
  5. Wow, I didn't even get an email from University of Maryland; I'm guessing I got rejected, then, and they just butchered my email address. I haven't heard from Clemson either.
  6. Who was your POI for University of Oklahoma, if you don't mind me asking?
  7. No problem! I hope you hear good news soon
  8. It depends on the degree you are seeking, the program, and the school, honestly; what I did was compile a list, from dates provided, of a general time frame when I could expect to hear back from each school. Also take into consideration the program deadline for applications. Texas A&M had their deadline Dec 1, and I heard from them in mid-Jan; University of Oklahoma's was Jan 1 and I heard from them yesterday. That being said, a general indication of when you should hear is around early-March (for both PhD and Master's), particularly for schools figuring out funding, recruitment weekends, etc. If you've applied to a school and it gets near April, that is generally around the time that I would suggest contacting the admissions office (or your POI) to check the status of your application. Again, this is based on 2 rounds of grad school applications (one for my MA, and currently for my PhD). Other users may have more concrete advice.
  9. To the other poster who received an invite to interview at University of Oklahoma, could you PM me your POI?
  10. For anyone who applied to University of Oklahoma's program, the program should be contacting applicants for interviews in early to mid-February. Recruitment weekend is the first weekend in March. I have a friend who is a current student there and is also helping coordinate recruitment weekend.
  11. Hm, would you mind PMing me your POI? Thanks!
  12. Could you also PM me your POI? I have applied to George Mason but haven't heard anything yet.
  13. PM'd you!
  14. Hey, just to give you a little more insight, I have an MA in I/O Psych and currently work at an applied research consulting company on a variety of projects. My role is more support because I'm new, but I just wanted to let you know that if you are interested in research there are definitely opportunities with just a master's degree in I/O. Not all I/O jobs have a major leadership component, but if you are doing research you are going to have to present your ideas to internal and external clients, as well as potentially bring in business (depending on where you work). You can also find applied research jobs with a PhD, particularly in non-profit consulting companies if you don't want to go into academia. The difference, at least at my organization, is that co-workers with PhDs enter at a higher level in the organization and can be promoted quicker, but that may just be a quirk of my workplace. I hope this helps!
