  1. @Kooyah thanks! Will now just wait around twiddling my thumbs for grad division to get back to me with CalNet ID and what not I suppose. I've heard there'll be a facebook group set up a few days after April 15 - so it'll be great to get to know other people too :) Totally with you on the housing issue - that'll be something I'll be looking into too.

Looking forward to all the Bay Area awesomeness to come our way real soon!

  2. @Kooyah congrats on your offer! I got through to HKS (no funding), Columbia ($$$$), and Berkeley (no funding, but expected), and have chosen to go to Berkeley regardless - mostly because I was absolutely blown away by the close knit community + everyone I spoke to there was just singing praises about the program. Just submitted my SIR too - wondering if your status on the online application page changed? I did get an email from GSPP when I submitted my intent to enrol, but nothing from the graduate division after submitting my SIR. Have you recieved any official communication yet?

I didn't receive that email but I'm definitely going to enroll. I wonder WHO the email was aimed at. I won't be able to attend the open house since it's far out of my budget and I'm in Asia. But, hopefully we meet in the fall! I skyped with a friend that graduated last year and she's still singing praises about the school. Definitely a close-knit, collaborative school with responsive and available professors and a wealth of networking opportunities. She also noted that the Berkeley base in DC is quite strong and a lot of great things about the Bay Area in general. I'm from California and am absolutely THRILLED to finally have the opportunity to study, work, and play in the Bay!

  3. Congrats to everyone who got in - I got my notification at around 6 30 PM PST too (a huge surprise since I didn't expect to hear anything past 5 PM PST). Anyway, very very pleased even though I didn't get a fellowship. I was also a bit surprised that the mail didn't end up going to my promotions tab (I use gmail and usually all of my Goldman emails go there), and realised that they'd sent the email through a different email ID? (gsppadm@socrates.berkeley.edu instead of gsppadm-socrates@berkeley.edu)?

Anyway, hang in there you guys, from what I've heard about past years' acceptances, they seem to send out notifications in batches :)

  4. Not sure how this will apply to you guys as I'm an international student, but I emailed Barry again (didn't receive a response to my first email) and got a prompt reply the 2nd time around. Basically they're not making funding offers to everyone who's been accepted. Any funding offers are communicated at the time of admissions decision - but it may be different for domestic students.

  5. Hey dudeinspace,

I'd think that a professor recommending you would have some bearing on your application. I got notified of my acceptance to CIPA a couple of weeks back, but I didn't really have a professor send out an email. If I were you, I'd still keep my fingers crossed and take this as good news.

    Delphine0329,

I'm an international student and finished my application about the same time as you. CIPA was awesome about getting back to me within the 3 week timeline they prescribe. However, I haven't received any notification about funding yet, though they've told me that I am being considered for funding - so just waiting for news on that front.

  6. Congrats to all of you! I got an email too - with funding as well! I was also super surprised since I had only turned in my app 3 weeks prior and was even surprised that I got a merit scholarship since my academics in undergrad were not very strong and I did not have an academic LOR - perhaps I made up for it with my GRE scores, resume, and SOP? I did not do Peace Corps but am currently serving in AmeriCorps.

I actually started this thread in Waiting It Out -

DanP - It seems like maybe the international applicants may be getting info about funding separately? freeverse commented in the thread in the link above also got in as an international applicant and did not hear back about funding but it seems weird that the rest of us who heard back got funding.

Nocho - I will be accepting as well! I'm not bothering to wait to hear back from any other schools since Evans was my first choice and the funding makes my choice even easier!

Yepp, DanP, I got notified too and no mention of funding. I did mail them asking about it but they haven't responded yet. Any luck on your end?

  7. Hi Glitter1nTheAir,

I just heard back from Evans too, offering me admission for the MPA program. No word on funding though (maybe because I'm an international student?). I've written back to them asking about funding and whether that news gets conveyed separately (past years' posts indicate that UW Evans does send out these notifications in a separate mail). I'm really hoping they do fund me, otherwise it'd be a challenge to attend Evans.

But I was really surprised to get such an early decision...I suppose that's because I applied in Early December itself?
