Congrats to those SUNY-Albany acceptances! I also just got an email saying four years of funding. I'm so excited!

For those accepted, what are your areas of specialization? I'm interested in gender, sexuality and queer theory.

Hi! Another acceptance here! I'm the one who was bitching about being rejected by maryland. Well, im a criminology major so defintely am big into that, as well as gender studies and urban studies. Congrats to those who have been admitted...I wonder when we'll find out about a potential open house.

No dice, got a solid rejection. Congrats those who got in...it was a tough one. I'm a little bitter because I'm a veteran and the opportunities Maryland offers in military sociology are amazing. Best of luck to you guys!

Nice! I wonder how large their applicant pool was. It's among my top choices as long as the funding package is good. Now if only the rest of us will be so fortunate to hear our fate...one way or another. Were you in contact with this professor prior to your acceptance?

Haha I know! I can't believe it really! I don't know if they're trying to be original or if the grad director wanted to let me know from somewhere e-mail wasn't available (Antarctica?) I had to text back to ask who it was because it was the last way I ever expected to find out about my application status. Thanks for the congrats Jacib!

Greetings all. I have been a lurker for quite some time now, but since I received some good news today, I thought I would share it with you. I received a text message (yes, a text message) from the graduate program director at UMASS saying I had been accepted. Shortly thereafter I received an email from him confirming the offer (as well as some lovely information about PhD funding).

I don't have any details about cohort size and applicant pool size, and am myself waiting for six other schools decisions. Good luck to you all and maybe we can start a thread for UMASS news!
