  1. You might be okay if you're not in psych and law!

    Hard to tell.

did all of the current PhD students you meet come from CUNY? If so, look at the silver lining: I doubt institutions recruit the best and the brightest if they refuse to look beyond their current UG pool, so you may have dodged a bullet. Call me old fashioned, but I think applicants from ivies might give CUNY UGs a run for their money, especially considering that CUNY was historically open enrollment :)

No, not in psych and law. I'm not sure, honestly it didn't come up. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I really thought grad school was an open market but it is seeming more and more like it is not

  2. I dunno, I attributed that to the fact that not absolutely everyone uses gradcafe. I assumed there were 3 acceptances because that's what grad students were saying happened in the past few years. As far as the waitlists being spread out, it seems (from the email they sent) that they were having an especially difficult time deciding.

Thanks for the input. Only three acceptances? I thought there would be more. They seemed to have put a lot of people on the waitlist. Were you waitlisted for the program? PM me if you don't want to share here.

  3. The waiting is the worst and it's hard not to take the rejections (or even the silence waiting for any kind of decision) personally. But SPSP is an amazing opportunity and it will only make your application stronger if you do have to apply again next year. I hope you have a great time there
