  1. I emailed the Graduate Program Administrator and she replied on 7 Feb that "Our admission decisions have been finalized. A letter from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences informing you of our decision will be mailed out on Tuesday, February 10th".

Anyway, I am international, so I have not received anything yet, but I presume she was just being tactful and did not want to tell me over email that I had been rejected....

Same for Berkeley, got a reply on 7 Feb as well which said "We have completed our first round of admissions, and it is unlikely that additional offers will be made. Applicants not offered admission will be notified at the end of February or sooner."

The Graduate Admissions website at Berkeley will be down for maintenance on Friday, Feb 20 from 8 am to 10 am Pacific Time. Perhaps the application result will be updated then?

  2. I don't know about you, but as far as I go, I don't think I have a chance (esp since I just saw a new UC Berkekey acceptance on the results search page today). As for the email, here's what I asked:

I applied to the graduate department of chemistry during the Fall 2015 term. I would like to ask the following questions about my application: 1. Has any decision been made on my application ? 2. If I do not hear back before February, can I assume that I have been rejected ?

Hold on. The candidate was accepted to Cal on 6th Jan, so there is still hope. Don't give up!

Would we receive any notification from the school if we are placed on the waitlist?

  3. I got a response from UC Berkeley - they said that they don't have the information yet but almost all admissions offers have gone out (they'll take at most 1 or 2 more people). All application statuses will be announced by the end of February or even before the end of February. MIT hasn't replied yet.

Hmm... Would there be any chances that admitted students decided not to accept the offer, then they opened up the slots to more qualified candidates?
