  1. I got into Berkeley, but they have yet to tell me how much funding is available...
  2. Rejected from UChicago. Not surprised because I went there for undergrad and my contact in the department kind of hinted at it.
  3. Can I just say that GRE scores are REALLY not the most important thing? I say this (and really don't want to sound like I'm bragging): but my quantitative and analytical scores were lower than yours, and my verbal only a little higher, and I got into my two top choice schools. So fit, SOP, writing sample and recommendations tell a school way more about you than your GRE scores. But yeah... everything does cost $$$, and it sucks.
  4. I'm in the exact same boat! The only two schools I got into are my absolute top choices-- and there are so many factors to consider! Hoping that campus visits will help spark that inner intuition.
  5. Nah I'm assuming rejection at this point. I just think it's super interesting how much later rejections are sent out than acceptances.
  6. And one more thing: MAPH is a general MA in the humanities. You can pick your focus (English, Art History, etc.), but it's definitely not a Comp Lit program.
  7. I highly highly do NOT recommend MAPH if you're planning on continuing to a PhD. And yes, it's unfunded and very expensive. Message me if you have any questions!
  8. Thanks so much, everybody! This is gonna be a hard decision for sure. Let's hope that Comp Lit sends out all their final decisions this week! I'm rooting for all of you
  9. Just got the acceptance from Harvard. In shock.
  10. Me too. Wow, they really don't like me, do they? First rejected for undergrad, now this. Oh well.
  11. Just got an email from Harvard reminding me to fill out some Supplemental Data form. So I guess they're literally just starting to review applications.
  12. Also no word from NYU, which is kind of funny because I had a dream last night I got rejected from there...
  13. Yep, still waiting to hear from Stanford, NYU, Brown, and Harvard comp lit programs
  14. Wow, congrats to you too! Rhetoric is a really special program
  15. Okay guys sorry I spoke too soon... As soon as I sent my message the Berkeley acceptance arrived. I'm kind of in awe.
  16. Oh no, guys, I'm sorry! If you don't mind my asking, was it via email? I haven't heard anything from Berkeley..
  17. NO NO NO! Don't say that! Nobody's heard from them yet!
  18. I know this is probably useless advice, considering I'm not really following it, but there's nothing you can do to speed up the process except for distracting yourself. Is there something you could do or someone you could hang out with that would temporarily get your mind off of all this? Yes, I'm still in the office, and was there until 5 AM yesterday (or today, i should say)
  19. Hey everyone, comp lit applicant here, but one of my major literatures will definitely be Russian!
  20. Oh man, when I saw the subject for this thread, I figured people would have heard by now! I have heard ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Anybody have any sense of when this month the majority of programs will start to notify? I was under the impression Berkeley was pretty early...
  21. I feel you. I'm working late in the office-- it's 3 AM-- and I'm getting to that anxious and sleep-deprived point where everything is funny. It's been three days of this. Solidarity!
  22. That's sounds lovely. I've been having the opposite experience- I work at a magazine and we go to press this week, so I've been at the office till 2 AM several nights in a row (yes, that includes Saturday and Sunday). It's kind of torturous, but I suppose it's a good way to kill time?
