  1. Does anyone know if UPenn's History and Sociology of Science department sent out decisions? There's nothing on the results page but I can't help but worry
  2. I figured we could all use a fun game to distract from the crushing anxiety of waiting for admissions decisions, so let's each make up a course title and some fields or authors covered in the curriculum! I'll go first. I would love to teach a history course on the intersections of gender, sexuality, and medicine. Just a few topics to be covered include: history of syphilis historical representations of women and homosexuals as agents of disease (specifically using French Indochinese case studies) the changing history of "sexual disorders" (lots of Austrian, German, and French psychology examples) the history of cosmetic surgery (overlapping with dis/ability studies, post WWI and II examples) the history of sex reassignment/affirmation surgery reproductive health If anyone has an idea for a course title for that, preferably containing a pun, please let me know. I'd love to see what other people come up with!
  3. I live in New York and went to NYU and, no, you probably don't NEED winter boots. It may snow a little while you are here but the majority of the snow from earlier in the week should be taken care of by the weekend. The most important factors for your shoe choice are warmth, comfort (if you will be walking a lot), and traction. Also, keep in mind that you may have to hop over large glacial puddles of slush-ice-water.
  4. Thank you, kblooms! For better or worse, I have not abandoned all hope
  5. Does anyone know if Princeton notifies candidates for History of Science at the same time as those for History?
