  1. I think the Notre Dame rejection letter was the worst. Their use of the word "pleased" in the first sentence made me think it was an acceptance until I read on. We were pleased to consider your application for graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame. We are sorry to report that we are unable to admit you at this time. This decision should not be viewed as an evaluation of your acceptability as a graduate student, but rather as an indication of the degree of competition in your department. Trusting that you will find satisfactory placement at another school of your choice, we wish you success in your future academic work. Thank you for your interest in the graduate programs of the University of Notre Dame.
  2. Misplaced transcripts seem to be a fairly common issue. I had this happen with my Stanford application. However, Stanford was more understanding. The person I talked to said it was alright since I uploaded a digital unofficial copy as well. I can also relate to the limbo feeling you described! Having graduated from undergrad in December, I now have too much time on my hands. I was already obsessively checking my email. But when I found this site a few days ago, I began obsessively checking the grad results page too. It just doubles my anxiety!
