  1. For ECE, you still have to wait. (At least for PhD)

I have two interviews next week with two different professors. I am assuming that they are still in the process. The Material Science and Engineering department, however, has already sent out their admission letters

But there is only three posts of Stanford MSE PhD on the result research, I assume (hopefully) there will be more next week. :)

  2. I got an email on 29 January with the following text:

"It is our great pleasure to inform you that you have been admitted to the Ph.D. program in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering beginning Autumn Quarter 2015-16. Congratulations!  All offers of admission are contingent on the verification of the fulfillment of admission requirements by Stanford Office of Graduate Admissions."

It goes on to talk about the visitation days which are 26-28 February (which is the same days as Georgia Tech!!!).  There is no mention of funding or a deadline to accept or decline the offer.

Thanks for your post! Huge congratulations!

I am still waiting for the result...... Hopefully I could get a positive one......

  3. Hello everyone,

I am lucky enough to be admitted to Harvard and MIT chemistry program. Now I am thinking about which program I am going to join. My research interests lie in materials science and inorganic chemistry. Yes, I will visit them both in March, but I feel that I should get some ideas before that.

    My question is mainly about:

What's the reputation of Harvard and MIT in your eyes? (I am an international student, so I do not have any ideas of the characteristics of these two programs besides the fact that both of them are top programs.)

What do you see as pros and cons of the program?

(I am willing to go to academia as my career, so do you have any ideas of the academic atmosphere of these two programs?)

Please feel free to talk about your opinions. It would be great if we can have current Harvard and MIT grad students on this topic as well.
