  1. Attending Steinhardt- MA Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness this fall! Super excited but worried about housing as I am waitlisted too. Worried about getting stuck with a psychopath rooommate! hahaha

  2. Hey all,

I know I informed you all that I called nyu on monday and was able to coax the person on the phone to give me the status on my app... Well I received my official letter/packet of acceptance today. Letter dated 3/12 mail dated 3/16. It was sent to my permanant address in Central Florida.

Good luck to all and congrats to my future classmates! :)

  3. I need to share some exciting news with you all....

After my interview at a different grad school this morning, I decided to call NYU and try and get them to tell me if I got in or not. 15 minutes of persuasion and a little bit of teasing on the receptionist's behalf, he shared with me...

    I AM IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over 500 applicants and they picked ME! oh my gosh i'm sort of freaking out. But i can't wait to hear that all of you have been accepted to! MUCH LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! <3

  4. so i have my net id and password... but i can't figure out how to sign on to the housing page. did you sign in on the home page of NYU's site and then just go to the housing page? where did you sign in?

I signed in from home.nyu.edu. Used my klr328 id and the password I created, went to the 4th tab (I believe called nyulife) and then clicked housing/meal plans. When you click that, it will then pull up a new window that will have a link in the left corner that says something like "university login" and click that and then the screen I posted shows up.

  5. Ok, I was able to log in and see the same thing that you see Kristen! Although it says I can't enroll for Fall 2010 classes yet because advisor approval is needed or something. And yeah, apparently grad housing is all done via waitlist.

I used my SSN to create the account since I didn't have the "N123456" number. I think it's the same one I received when I applied for summer housing last summer though. I think they've updated the system since yesterday.

Yeah, I had to do mine with my ssn and found my nid under the housing classification. Oh, and I can't register either due to the same reason (advisor approval) however, I saw all grad registration begins april 12th. And I was also informed that if you been identified with a "nid" that means you're in. Because that is your university identification within their systems. We shall see.

  6. Wow, that definitely has to mean that you're in!!! I also have the same thing as the housing classification: waitlist student. Where are you reading the "Masters Candidate, College- Steinhardt Exp. grad date 5/15/12 program- MA Counseling Mental health and wellness" part? In the housing profile?

no, i found them on separate tabs on albert. I found the other stuff under 'registration' tab and then 'registration status' click steinhardt, fall 2010 and then it shows

    "Your Classification for the Term"

    Advisor:

    Academic Status: Good Standing

    Class: Master's Candidate

    College: Steinhardt School Culture Ed&

Major: Counseling for Mental Hlth & We

and i honestly can't find where I found my grad date! bah!

  7. hi guys! i also applied to this program. i was able to create an account about a week ago, but in my case i had applied for summer housing so i think they might have had my info already. kristen- when you login to the housing page, what does it say your housing classification is?

my housing classifcation said "waitlist student". but i read up and that doesn't indicate status of student. It indicates that I am a student on waitlist for housing... so yeah. guess i'm not guaranteed housing. And my profile said "Masters Candidate, College- Steinhardt Exp. grad date 5/15/12 program- MA Counseling Mental health and wellness

  8. Hey kristen

    So happy for you!!!!

How did you get the n number and the email address? Did they send you an email??

no they didn't send an email, i've just been checking the nyuhome login since someone on here suggested. haha, and i found my 'n' id under the housing profile. weird, i know. all the other info was the first email in my nyu.edu account. I'm honestly afraid to get excited... :X

  9. okay- i spoke with someone who is in a MFA program at nyu and she said that if they assigned me a 'n' id then i'm in, which they did. She also said that they wouldn't give this if you were wait-listed. crossing fingers and hoping i get a letter in the mail tomorrow!!!

  10. Do you think we will also receive an acceptance/wait list/rejection email in addition to postal notification? I'm on break and don't have access to my school mailbox this week :/

hmm, i'm gonna go with no? but who knows really... I'm going to be out of state come Sunday... going to FL for a grad school interview. lol. although, it'd be nice to know if i didn't have to worry so much... cmon nyu!

  11. Hello,

My name is Josh. I have applied to various masters in I/O psych programs in the state of FL. So far I have been accepted into FIT, UWF, and Barry Univ. I am waiting to hear back from UCF and CAU. I would appreciate any info on the schools which would help me make my choice.

Specifically how does Barry's MS in Organizational Learning and Leadership stack up with a MS in I/O. Which one would land me a better job?

Also I would like to learn how Carlos Albizu University compare to the other schools. I know that they were ranked pretty highly on SIOP's study. Are there any grads or current students that I can ask some questions? Thank you for any and all information.

One of my friends is in the I/O MA program @ UCF (she'll be done with her first year this may). She LOVES it. UCF is ranked one of the best I/O programs in the country, so she feels like it carries a pretty nice reputation... hope this helps!

  12. Are people that are applying to the MA program-Mental Health and Wellness, currently an undergrad or already graduated/had some work experience? I am currently an undergrad.

I graduated in December of 2008... depserately tried to get work experience, but have only come up with volunteer work... makes me SO mad because I had connects to so many different research schools/facilities and still came up empty-handed. Oh well... guess that's life!

  13. Looking at the Mental Health/Wellness webpage, has anyone been able to RSVP to the accepted students orientation? I clicked the link and it said "registration is full". However I am assuming this is from last year...?

I noticed this as well, TopRock23, however I'm pretty confident they haven't offered any acceptances just yet. I think the course of this week could change that... but ultimately, I do too think that reflects last years incoming students registration.

  14. I also applied to the Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and wasn't able to create the NYU log-in.

AH thank GOD i'm not alone! I dont know about you guys, but I stalked last years admits on the results page and they all were notified via postal service... henceforth I get just short of heart palpitations everytime I go to my mailbox. UGH.

  15. Hey guys! I am new here, but I wanted to tell you that I applied to Steinhardt for Counseling and Guidance MA, and today I was able to create a netID and log into NYU's student portal home.nyu.edu, where they had my university ID, email, etc. I haven't heard anything yet but it's definitely a good sign I think!

Just thought I'd share because maybe it will work for you too! Good luck!

Ahhh, I just tried this and it didn't work for me. I'm not gonna over-analyze that just yet bc you applied to the school/guidance program and I applied to the mental heath wellness one... however I think i'm going to be trying that as frequent as checking this INSANE website.

    thanks for the tip anyhow!

  16. Hi Kristen,

Are you currently an undergrad applying to this program, if so where do you go to school? good luck! :) i'm also waiting anxiously to hear!

I graduated with my undergrad in December of 2008. I went to the University of Central Florida... Was a research assistant/senior peer recruiter for university's anxiety disorder clinic (director was one of my LORs), volunteer for central florida hospitals as a guardian advocate, interned with mental health association of central florida and volunteered for university's marriage and family research institute... GPA 3.5 strong LORs and I feel a strong SOP... NYU is my DREAM school. I've had nightmares/dreams about it for the past two months!

    How about you??

  17. Fit is the most important part of your application.

If you have .5 below the average GPA but are a stellar fit, you have a better chance than .5 over and no fit.

I would say I am a pretty stellar 'fit'... Notable research interests/experiences couple quite nicely with several faculty within the program... is this what you were referencing 'fit' to ?
