Just received an official notification that I've been put on the waitlist (with approximately 50 other students) and that my official decision will arrive by late March. I had no idea this was even a thing. Any idea what my chances of admission are at this point?

My plan for the summer is to stick around at my current lab and finish up some projects before I leave for grad school. Although travelling the world sounds OK too I guess.

I was accepted on Wednesday to the CS program with a specialization in AI/ML, but I just noticed this thread now. Congrats to everyone else who got in! UW is one of my top choice schools, and tbh I was fully expecting a reject. Are you all going to the visit day?
Are admissions for students with B.S. degree only sent out? Is admission selection of these students different from those with M.S.?
I was accepted with only a BS, although I don't know if the selection process is any different.

Yep it was! Have you heard back from them concerning admission results at all? My POI contacted me and said he was looking forward to meeting but other than that I haven't received anything.
No, I haven't heard anything either. And I don't really see any reason why the visit being pre-admission should scare you away. I see it as an opportunity to make a good impression and show interest in the program.
Out of curiosity, what area are you looking to do research in? I'm in machine learning.

I haven't heard from Columbia either, but I haven't tried emailing them. If they don't get back to me before April 15th, can I get my app fee back?
