  1. Is it a good idea to contact other faculty in your field to the schools you're applying to beyond your POI? Is this a "the more the merrier" thing or a "less is more" thing? If it is a good idea to reach out to other faculty, does anybody have a good template for that initial email (to keep it brief and not put off this weird vibe: "Hey, I like your work and I think it will be useful for my interests, but I'd rather work with your colleague. Just thought I'd say hello to score brownie points.")?

    Thanks!

  2. Well, I was told there were two biblical studies spots, and I assumed that meant one NT and one OT. But it looks like an NT spot was claimed before I turned mine down...so maybe their first choices this year were both NT students?

I am hoping RedDoor's buddy took a vacancy from someone else declining their admission because they posted that two days before you turned down your acceptance. Basically, I hope that there's still hope for me :).

  3. I'm with you, my friend! I received my rejection also. I didn't have as much interaction there, but did get rejected from another program where I had a similar experience, with the professor saying essentially the same thing. It's tough. So far, I'm 4/5 on rejections, with only Harvard still not officially rejecting me (though the handwriting seems to be on the wall). Like you, I'm not sure what the next move is!

I was not admitted to Yale or Duke (ThD), but I was waitlisted at Princeton. I know I should be grateful for at least making the waitlist at Princeton (and I am! Makes me feel like I am not crazy to be applying to these programs), but damn I really wanted Duke!
