I plan on living close to campus and not using my car very often, but I plan on buying one when I get there (my wife will probably need one to commute to work). Anyplace you think is really good would be wonderful. Thanks again!
Anyone have any idea where to look for places int he Maple Ash area? I see a couple apartments online, but they're really expensive (more than $1000 a month).

Thanks, Nikki. I tried Pita Jungle when I visited campus last year and it was great! I'll be sure to check out the other places.
I appreciate the advice, Breakfast. I would love the restaurant list if it's not too much trouble (I'm vegetarian too, so that would be perfect ).

I got notified today that I got a TAship. Those of you still waiting on funding, here's how it works, it seems. You get put on a waitlist for funding and if a TAship or fellowship opens up (from someone else rejecting the offer), then you get it if you're next in line. Good luck to those of you still waiting. I hope you hear soon!

Anyone know anything about the following apartment complexes?
Campus Walk Apartments
Haven Apartments
Campus Pointe/Riviera Palms Apartments
Mockingbird Palms
Quadrangles Village
Amber Gardens
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you. I know that ASU doesn't fund everyone, but I'm not sure what percentage actually receives funding. Congrats on the acceptance, and I hope we both hear back about the funding soon.

on the city guide forum will let you know a little more about the city. As for why I chose to apply to the program, it's the openness for one thing (a broad variety of what can be studied and an interdisciplinary option), the uniqueness and variety of classes offered ("Technology of Writing: Video Game Studies" really stood out to me as a good example of this ), and the positive comments I've heard when talking to students and faculty about the program.

I just got the email saying I was accepted Still no mention of funding for me either, but hopefully that will be sorted out soon.
(By the way, my status still says "in review," too, so I don't think that means much either way).

I think the people that said they were waitlisted must have asked. I emailed a few weeks ago, and Dr. Luna told me that they don't inform people on the waitlist.

Do people currently living in the area have any advice for someone moving in? Where is the best place to look for housing? Any good restaurants near the university (any vegetarian places)? Anything you'd tell someone moving to the area that he might not know?
