I think the plan is to get the masters and certification, teach, then go on for an Ed.D or Ph.D. I feel like UMD has the stronger program for such a track, but a place like TC would be a place to consider for the eventual doctorate. Plans change however, as does my mind, apparently, every day!

I have been wondering that too. I got into MCERT as well as Teachers College at Columbia University. From my research, it seems like the acceptance rate isn't the strongest metric to go off of, and some of these teacher training programs don't even disclose them. I would say a better thing to consider is job placement rates after program completion. MCERT places most of its graduates in teaching positions before the start of the school year, or at least that's what I have been told.

I just got into TC for secondary Social Studies Education. Also got in MCERT at University of Maryland, which is a similar program. Having a hard time deciding between the two. TC has the name recognition, but I feel like UMD has the stronger program. Thoughts?
