  1. hi cococo,

thanks for the reply. I checked applyyourself, and it says "submitted".

I dont know what that means.. ;( frustrated mehhh

Yeah, mine says that too. The decision status will appear at the bottom. My page is laid out like :

    APPLICATION STATUS: SUBMITTED

And then some subheadings about recommendations, transcripts, etc.

And then under the last subheading for "Other Supporting Documents" there will be another bolded heading in capital letters saying "DECISION STATUS:" and it will have a link. At least that is how it looks for me. I'm sure all of you would have noticed that though. :/ I'm sorry this has been so frustrating! Best of luck, friend. :)

  2. Hey cococo! I am also accepted for Spring, but isn't sure about going yet:( I know Parsons is not listed higher on ranking, and that I was much more impressed with the open studio at Hunter. But I still couldn't yet talk myself down to accept Hunter... What would you think?

I mean Parsons is a very good school, but the best things I hear about them are usually in regard to design majors? I have some friends that go there for fashion design and graphic design and they really love it.

I honestly can't really recommend one way or another for you though! It really depends on what financial aid you get, how you felt about the studio spaces and facilities, the instructors etc. The spring vs. fall thing may be a thing to consider too?

Lol I'm totally not being helpful at all. I mean I have been excited about Hunter since I went to a thesis show of theirs last fall and went to their open studios. The vibe of the community seemed engaging and interdisciplinary, and I saw a lot of art being made that I loved. Plus, you really cannot beat the price tag associated with it for a school with studio spaces that are in downtown Manhattan.

I wish you luck in deciding though! Both are great schools, though I have had a few teachers who went to Hunter for their MFA and they always talk about how much they loved their time there.

  3. Hi everyone!

I got in for Spring 2016, but all of you seem to be Fall? :)  I'm kind of bummed to hear about how little funding the university seems to offer from this discussion, but I'm happy regardless because Hunter is still a really good deal. I'll be accepting the offer, so hopefully I'll see all of you in person next year?

  4. same here. im dying to know... ;(

This is probably an obvious suggestion, but have you checked your application status at the applyyourself website that the application was submitted to? When I got the e-mail from Hunter, it just said that my acceptance status was on that site (it was a link at the bottom of a page). I hope all of you got in though!!! Best of luck. :)

  5. Looks like I'm going to Hunter! Yaaaaaay. :) So stoked because it was my first choice (assuming I got into all three programs). Congrats to others who have gotten accepted to Hunter, RISD, etc.!

    So far:

    Hunter - Accepted 3/20 for Spring 2016

Tyler/Temple - Rejected by mail in February

    Columbia - *crickets* (probably rejected :/  )

  6. I thought it was the opposite... That having the MFA meant you were still being considered

I thought so too, but the only person we've heard from that got an interview for Columbia said:

Um... I just checked and it just says "2015 Painting" And Thank you!

I hope that the Slideroom thing is arbitrary, but I'm beginning to doubt it unfortunately.

I see that you applied to Hunter, so I doubt the system is the same fore approval or whatever. Or at least I hope it is...

  7. um so if it says MFA after your painting thing at Columbia you've probably been rejected... that one girl got an interview. everyone else didn't. I don't know why they changed that process but it's over for everyone I think (including me). womp womp

Uggggggh I hope this isn't true, but you are probably right now that I look back on the forum posts. If it is true, that probably means I didn't get an interview. :( booooo

  8. Hang in there! This is my first time around, applied to 5 schools and havent heard a peep from one.

I would imagine this is a hectic and chaotic time on their end too, that they deal with every year. (So they surely aren't as eager as we are) :)

    Best of luck!

Same to you! It is my first time applying to MFA programs as well, so it makes me feel better to see that other people haven't heard anything from their schools either. No one else I know has applied to the same schools I have so I've been sitting here stressing out over the lack of updates I have heard.  I applied to the three programs I listed above, but I'm just hoping I get into at least one of them...

  9. What does the slideroom name change mean? My Hunter college slideroom was changed to MFA 2015 - Painting. Does it just indicate that your work is being looked at?

Yeah, I just noticed that my app for Hunter changed to that as well. The general consensus that I've seen from previous posts on here seems to be that little change means that they are probably looking at it?

So you are a Hunter applicant too? I'm assuming this means that you haven't heard anything back yet either? I'm so nervous about all of this...

  10. I see that one person heard back from Columbia for painting. I applied for New Genres there though, so I hope we hear back soon. My Slideroom also had MFA added to it.

Has anyone heard back from Hunter or Tyler (Temple) yet? I applied to Combined Media at the former and Sculpture at the latter. I'm like freaking out from this radio silence from all three universities, and I see that many people have heard back about interviews or have already had them for other college. Bleeeeeeeegh I'm like freaking out.
