Same here Hello~ I'll be a new PHD student in IOE starting 2010 Fall. I'm also looking at housing information these days. Here are some of my thoughts, and hope you guys would give me some suggestions~~ thx! Since IOE is in north campus, and I won't have a car in the first few months, I think Northwood or Willowtree are good for me ... within walking distance from the department and the shopping center... but some ppl complain about the housing quality there...... If I want to live in Northwood, I'll have to apply after official admissions, and either find a roommate myself or wait to assign one. I hear the application for Northwood can be tough, what are the chances that I, a single international 1st year PHD be accepted in application? And, if a roommate is assigned to me, there might be problems in conflicting living habits or else... If Willowtree~ I think I should start looking now~ It's better to live with a student already there rather than starting a place on my own, right?

well I don't know whether it's automatic or not~ maybe~~ I'm thrilled!

About UMich... I got admission letter from UMich on Thursday, and got rejected by Stanford at the same day.....

Are you and your friend both domestic applicants?

Ohhhhhhh~~ really~~this week!!! But there has been only a few admissions (2, actually, on the results board)... guess the majority is still on the way.....

Same here~ no acceptance yet but invited to the visit weekeng... Wonder they make their decisions before or after the visitation weekend...

I got the email too~ Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE), and the date is Mar.18-21...

Hi~ Thanks~ :-) I apply for PhD at Purdue~ My online application was submitted on 12/3/2009; the whole application was completed on 12/10/2009. And I got the admittance letter today~

Hi~ I got the email this morning, with an attachment of the admittance letter. Also, "Decisions on financial aids will be made shortly and should you be awarded an assistantship, we will notify you." And when I went to check the website, it says "Recommended by Program; processing at the Graduate School" instead of "under review" as before. I didn't contact anyone in particular during application. I guess they are just sending out results in several rounds, coz my roommate (also from Tsinghua IE) got her admittance letter at the same time~ :-)

I got admittance letter from Purdue!!!

Really~~ I heard nothing from NU and it's already two weeks....

Guess at least we are shortlisted~ Huh~ Maybe I could get a visa with the formal invitation :-)

Hey~ I got an email from the Graduate Student Advisor from IOE at U of Michigan, saying about the "recruitment weekend", and that the formal invitation will be going out in a few days or weeks. But the email didn't mention anything about "admissions"... Anyone got this email, or heard from UMichigan recently?

One of my roommates applying for TAMU IE master degree got an admission several days ago. They didn't sent email but just updated the website. But there seems no news for phd applicants so far~

I heard nothing either.... maybe tmr...

I don't know about this rej from UMichigan~ but I have a roommate also applying for PHD got rej from UMichigan like a few days ago. So~~ no news is good news:)

Our IE department at Tsinghua is very small~ so, maybe I know your friend~ And I have a roommate also applying for IEOR-PHD, she also got the admission from North Carolina State~ Ahhh, it seems NU sent their decisions to domestic applicants, waiting waiting waiting....

Hi~ I'm new here:) About me~ Undergraduate from Dept. Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University. GRE V600 Q800 AW4.0; GPA 87.2/100, ranking 9/65(department), 2/40(academic direction). Applying for 2010Fall, IE-PHD. Applying to: GaTech, UMichigan, Purdue, Northwestern, Stanford, Arizona State U, Iowa State U, PennState, U of Wisconsin-Madison, U of Florida, North Carolina State U, Boston U, Texas A&M U, UIUC (14~ a lot~) I got that email from Northwestern as well ~ "one of our highly rated international applicants...blablablah" Well, hope it's a good sign:) but honestly I think they only meant "Don't send any more emails asking your status!"...... And I got a admission from North Carolina State U~ my decision was made on Jan.13 (but my email account blocked the email and I just knew it~), saying "Admission status: full admission; Assistantship: your major department will contact you"~ (I think they meant interview maybe~) That's it~ no more official notifications~~ hehe~
