It sure was! Another couple of days and my alternatives would have forced my hand. I'll have to see if I can find out exactly what was going on up there once I finish up my undergrad. CT is my home state, so I am excited to be back home and to work at Yale.

Me too, Travis. I think I might go to school with the applicant you speak of. She is a friend of mine and applying in English and Ren. Studies so I'll have to ask her when I see her next. The department didn't have any English Renaissance PhD students on their grad list so if she was the only English applicant it is very well possible they offered her acceptance immediately on those grounds. As far as our situation, I see they have 3 Ren. Studies students concetrating in history, though one is a 7th year. Hopefully they will accept an history applicant at all. My fingers are crossed. I will let you know if my friend is the applicant you are speaking of. Best Mike
