  1. Hey guys!

    I was just accepted into UofA's Environmental and Occupational Health program! I'm a bit torn between UofA and SFU but I'll probably go with UofA. Did anyone else here get into that program?

    I got an offer as well. However, I also have an unofficial offer from UofT and will be taking UofT's offer once it is official. Congratulations to you :)

    @sh722709

    The offer was via email and I think the deadline to accept was the 14th. Goodluck to you :)

  2. U of T MPH OEHers: has anyone heard from SGS yet? Program director sent an email Mar 25 stating recommendation and forwarding to DLSPH Graduate Office and SGS. I replied confirming my intent to accept the offer but haven't heard anything since. SGS status is still "Under Review".

    In the same boat. During my interview they mentioned that they let us know early because SGS takes a long time to send out the official offers. I guess we are just going to have to be patient and wait for it.

  3. @envy22 Thanks!! Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you are picking Toronto's program over UBC's? I haven't heard much comparison between the two but would like to know if there were some major differences!

    Personally I feel like both programs are equally as good. My first option was definitely UofT just because I am from Toronto so I know I would be better off here for a number of reasons. If I was not from Toronto, then it would be a really hard decision. The thing with both programs is that they are very specialized and in my opinion I don't think whether you come out with an MPH or an MSc matters. It is more about the knowledge you gain from the program and how well you can apply it in a real life setting. Both programs I feel provide very specialized courses and prepare you really well for the field of occupational hygiene. One thing I would suggest for you is maybe think about what your goals are with the degree and compare the courses in both programs to see what interests you more. Also, this is a good question you can ask at your interview seeing as it is next week to get the thoughts of the interviewers. Obviously you would need to phrase it correctly lol but hope this helps :)

  4. That's so cool meeting another applicant! Yeah I'm beyond anxious - I wonder how many of us they interviewed before they made their final selection! It'd be so cool if we ended up as future classmates! I hope we hear by back Monday just so we could get the wait over with!!

    I'm not sure how many people are interviewed but the website says all suitable applicants will be given an interview. I am guessing quite a few people were interviewed. Apparently last year they had 85 applicants overall. Doesn't seem too bad but I am still very nervous. Hoping for the best and I wish you luck as well :)

  5. Hey! What kind of questions did they ask during the interview? I'm getting interview at U of A, but they might ask similar questions.

    I had an interview to UofT and here are a few things I would suggest:

    - be able to talk about why you chose that program and school specifically

    - Do your research on what the program you are applying to entail in terms of curriculum or maybe even practicum

    - be able to provide them with a sense of direction in terms of what you will do with the degree (career goals or any other goals)

    - The typical question - "tell me a bit about yourself" - this is your opportunity to sell yourself to the program so have a plan on what you will say - focus on your strengths and what you can bring to the program or why you are the perfect fit.

    Hopet this helps and goodluck :)

  6. Hey everyone! I applied to UofT's OEH program - I completed my interview and now I'm just waiting for the results. The committee said all applicants should hear back by next week supposedly! I don't know about everyone else, but I feel nervous - the interview was challenging! The waiting game is brutal.

    Same here! I had my interview as well and even though they said we should hear back next week, I have been staring at me email. It is torture! Anyways, goodluck to you!! Hopefully we will be future classmates :)
