Hello!
I am from Wisconsin and did my undergrad at UW-Madison (French major). Currently, I am taking classes at Madison in communication sciences and disorders (so I could apply to grad programs). I’ve had a great experience doing my post-bacc here and that was why I applied to the grad program.
I attended the open house and that basically reinforced my desire to go to Madison - I felt it was a low-key, warm atmosphere; yet with a definite emphasis on learning and becoming a well-trained SLP. At this point I am fairly certain I will accept.
Regarding living situation - it’s tough. I’m looking for a studio or one bedroom and it’s slim pickings - sorry to cause worry! I’m a bit persnickety though and I want to live close enough to campus to be able to walk to class. However, I found the apartment I have at the beginning of last July (and it’s been fine, good location, rent not outrageous), so there will definitely be places available. I guess I was expecting more options with starting my search in March, but that has not been the case.
(The French House - great place, although I can see why you might want to go a different route being in grad school. Their food is excellent; I took a class there as an undergrad - 1 credit and you ate lunch and spoke French - best “class” ever! I would definitely recommend trying them for lunch or dinner.)
