Congrats Goober! I'm trying to cross my fingers... I prayed that one of my waitlist schools would open up the Red Sea for me just as God did for Moses and his people...
But since tourist already accepted the spot... I'm thinking, oh my god, how many free spots do they have left at Indiana?!Thanks Tickle! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too!

Anyone else out there still waiting to hear from BC??? I saw some acceptances and a rejection on the board, but I've heard nothing!

I now have to add another item to my menu of frustration: U of Georgia just waitlisted me for funding...grrr...what is going on, its like I'm okay, but just not there, just not good enough of a candidate to merit straight out acceptance at these schools!

I'm going too..Flying in from VA. Where are you guys staying? I tried to stay with a student, but didn't get on the list in time, so am staying at the hostel.

I heard, from a letter dated March 9th, that I have been waitlisted. 10 were admitted, and 8 waitlisted. So, if any of you folks out there have gotten in and know that you aren't going, please do us waitlisters a favor and decline! Remember, I will send a case of beer or cheap wine, or champagne!!! whatever your preference!

AAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHH! I just found out that I am wait listed at Iowa. Now I have an unfunded Wisconsin admit, and two wait lists (I am on the funding list at Florida too). I am soooo frustrated right now. I feel like this whole process has just been demoralizing. I thought I would know by now where I'm going next fall, but it turns out I have to wait for another month or so to find out. This is torture!! And what if all the waiting is for nothing, and both places end up rejecting me??? (can you tell I am a bit perturbed?) Sorry, just needed to vent and I figured this was the place.

I think you said earlier you got accepted to Brandeis. Just as an example of what you can do with a degree from that school - check out Hendrik Hartog's bio - he's at Princeton. Enough said, I think:))

Just found out I got accepted to UF, but am on the wait-list for funding..Anybody out there planning on rejecting their funded offer from them? I, too, would gladly send beers!!! I will up the ante and send a case if you make my year!

Just thought I'd update everyone who is interested in the BC situation. I gave in to my curiosity (and impatience) and called the admin there. She told me that they are still reviewing the applications and are not done accepting people yet. So we have a little hope, BC people!

I just saw a BC rejection on the results board. I also applied there, and was wondering if the person might mind letting me know when the letter was dated? I understand if you don't want to say, but would really appreciate it if you can share (or possibly PM me?). I am located in North Jersey and just wondering if its taking the rejection letter an extra day to reach me or something.

Same way that I feel. Started out feeling positive, and now it has just gone terribly wrong. I thought that if I was lucky enough to get ACCEPTED to a place like Wisconsin, at that point maybe my test scores would help me get fellowships (since those university-wide funds seem to be based on scores a lot). I'm kind of at a loss to explain the way things have gone.
I wonder if this history forum has gotten progressively more silent because everyone is just suffering so much with this stupid economy and its effects on admissions.
Have you heard something definitive about funding from Wisconsin? I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone else hear anything?

Thanks rockeater. I still have 10 out there, but am not feeling good about them after the way things have been going...At least I have Wisconsin, but who knows about the funding there? I heard that I may be able to get some money after the first semester (TAing probably), but I don't know if I can risk it financially.

Just got my reject email from them. Less than 6 fellowships offered. So sad.

You too Boogs! On another note, has anyone else not heard a peep from Princeton today? I'm wondering if they have the wrong email address for me or something or if there will be a second round of rejections going out next week. Any thoughts?

Got unofficial and unfortunately very reliable news from Brown and Duke last week. Sorry for the late post. It took me a week to emotionally process the conversation. I needed to let the bitterness fade. I'm looking at rejections from both schools. Apparently, Brown is only making five total offers this year. All five are split between the Americanists and Europeanists. Duke on the other hand made offers to a much larger class of Latin Americanists than usual. I just didn't make the cut/fit. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news about Brown. Since these were the two schools I thought I had the best shot at, I'm looking at getting swept this season. F$%##%$%! I know the two rejections are slowly creeping their way towards me but I'm still vainly hoping for an eleventh hour reprieve, which ain't coming. UGHHHH! This sucks! Any word on details from the Northwestern admits? Field? How big is the projected class? Anything? Good luck and godspeed to everyone.
I'm sorry about the bad news Boogs. Did Brown, by any chance, mention when they were going to notify everyone?

Nope - my advisor from Wisconsin just emailed me a very nice, lengthy email letting me know some more about the whole funding situation (they don't offer many multi-year fellowships) and asked if I was planning on coming to the recruitment weekend - nothing about reimbursement.

Made my decision to go to Iowa - rejecting U of Florida and Wisconsin. Pretty excited! Hope I made someone's day on the Florida waitlist, I know there are a few still on it.
