  1. Invited to interview at the University of Rhode Island! Finally some good news for me!
  2. Welp, just received my rejection from University of Maryland.
  3. Has anyone heard from UMD's master's in student affairs? I heard a rumor they called students whom were invited to interview last week...
  4. All of the effort I put into my personal statement for that program is what is really tearing me up right now. I do want someone to look at it, but I also don't know if I want to the M.Ed. program. I'm going to email them some questions to see how this would impact my chances of admission, because my personal statement was tailored to the M.S. program.
  5. It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I don't want to judge a book (well, program) by it's cover but I'm seriously questioning if I even want to bother forwarding my app to the other program.
  6. I just received an email from Penn State that they have decided to discontinue their M.S. in Higher Education (student affairs emphasis). They are offering reimbursement for the application fee, or the forward of my application to the M.Ed. in Higher Education. All I can say is, wow.
  7. CONGRATS!
  8. Did you hear anything back from them? I'm assuming they sent out invites yesterday and that I didn't get one!!! You win some and lose some I guess, but I wanted to be absolutely sure before confirming with UVM as well.
  9. You're probably right! It has to be the nerves!!!!
  10. Mind if I message you too? I'm full of questions as well!
  11. I'm most likely going to have to fly as well! And yeah I saw they said we would be contacted by assistantship sites soon so we know who we'll be talking to! Also, my assistantship application wasn't as strong as I would've liked it to be
  12. I thought I'd put this here for any higher education and student affairs applicants out there who are getting ready for interview/preview days! Where have you been asked to interview and what are your concerns going into preview days?
  13. I was wondering how they decide too! The current students I talked to had a pretty even mix of which weekend they attended (1st or 2nd), so it might just be random. The first weekend would work better for me haha!
  14. Not a clue! It makes me so nervous! I've heard similar, that there are a lot of interviewees! But that might be why UVM splits the dates--to get a better idea of each and every candidate. I have heard that some programs invite upwards of 70 students to interviews (and of course some will decline the invitation).
  15. Awesome! And yeah there's another weekend, February 7-8th I believe.
  16. Which interview weekend! Feb. 21-22nd is when I'm going!
  17. UVM has sent out interview invitations! I was asked to interview! Has anyone else heard anything?
  18. I heard UConn is sending out interview invites this week... I'm not too confident given the number of applicants they average for their program but I'm still sitting here in a ball of anxiety! I can't stop refreshing my email!
  19. UGH! I know I definitely do! All of my program deadlines were December 1st and aren't rolling admissions, so I don't know why I am expecting a response so soon! I heard most programs let applicants know if they were invited to interview around the middle of January.
  20. Where to?!!!
  21. Has anyone sent out any applications yet?
  22. Thank you so much! I've been looking at information like this. It's nice to seen the competitiveness laid out! Where were you able to find this information? I'd love to see it for some of the other programs out there...
  23. Does anyone know any "second tier" programs that may be worth applying to? All of the schools on my list right now are extremely competitive and while I am a very strong applicant, I want to cover my bases. I'm looking at large public universities, but am open to private as well.
  24. URI, UConn, and MSU are on my list as well! I'm trying to narrow my list down because as of right now I feel as though I have every school with a program on it. I've never lived outside of New York, so I'm struggling with figuring out what area/school would be best for me.
  25. I'm applying! I too feel as though there isn't anyone talking about student affairs/college student personnel on here! Are you interested in the student affairs side of things (counseling), the higher ed side of things (administrative), or the research side? There are many different directions that programs take!
