For statistics, I personally don't really think it will be a huge detriment. I think you are probably better off taking a high-level math course than some programming course, especially if your programming skills can be showcased in other ways (other classes, projects, etc.--things you can mention on your personal statement).
Thank you very much. I will try high-level math. I am considering the abstract linear algebra and introduction to analysis. Which one is more important?

Definitely not worth it. Forget about it, take other classes and do well in them.
Yeah, it makes sense. Thank you very much!

Hi,
I am a junior student who is pursuing a double major in applied math and economics. I currently have overall GPA 3.87, however, I have a "C+" grade in JAVA when I was freshman (1st semester in college, I did not really study at first). Without this class, I have GPA 3.93. I am wondering if it is a good idea to retake this class since I have all A's so far for other classes. I'd like to go to graduate program, maybe statistics. I am not sure if it's a big deal to have a grade "C+" in programming class on my transcript. I am worried because I think programming skill is really important. If I retake this class, C+ won't be replaced but the university will calculate the average between two grades.
Can anyone give my some suggestions?
Thank you in advance for any help!!
Duke MSS vs Columbia Statistics

Hi everyone!
I was placed on the waitlist for Duke MSS but I just got accepted today. I am an international student. I do not know which one to choose.
For Duke, it has the better reputation for statistics and the class size is much smaller than Columbia, however, the setting is suburban.
For Columbia, it accepts around 200 students for graduate statistics but its in NYC. Also, my boyfriend is going to Columbia.
I prefer to find a job in US first. Anybody can tell me what my best option is? Thank you very much!!!
