Hey Everyone! I am applying for MFA Graphic Design 2016 (Calarts, Otis, RISD, Yale, SDSU...) Is there anyone applying MFA GD programs with different background (non BFA degree students or non career experience in GD) I feel like I am alone on this.. I also kept thinking about student debt too. How much do you think I will be paying monthly after graduate? (with total debt of around 134,000$) soooo nervous!!!

Hello everyone~ I am applying for this year for 2016, MFA Graphic Design programs. I graduated bachelor's degree in Fashion design and textile from South Korea and I am seriously considering change my career to visual communication. So I am looking into 3 year programs for MFA Graphic Design. My list is Calarts, RISD, Yale and Otis It is slim chance (I know) but do you think there is any chance of getting in depending on the portfolio? Is there anybody who got accepted for MFA GD without BFA degree of GD or GD career experience? Is there anyone applying the same list of schools?

As I know you would be able to apply for US Federal Student Aid if you are US citizen and got accepted to RCA (master programs only). I am not sure how much it can be covered. UK art colleges usually do not give many scholarship or loan options to international students. However tuition is cheaper (except for RCA or UCL (Slade)) than private art colleges in US. There is also big difference in tuition between UK students and International students. I am sure you already know about this. For interdisciplinary or sculpture, I would recommend Glasgow School of Art. Both BFA and MFA are highly competitive however it is very well known for interdisciplinary visual practice. And you get pretty large studio individually. A lot of artists prefer Glasgow than London because rent is cheaper and there is enough art scene and networking you can get. Goldsmiths in London would be my second choice if you would like to study fine art in UK.
